This is my little "mini herd" of golden oldies enjoying the sunshine and grass under the apple trees.

We have Norman the Aby, he's a sweet natured little fella who came in with Lucinda's Nigel. He's about 6 or 7 years old. He was simply unwanted and was very skinny. When I went to pick Nigel up I just happened to notice another hutch with a water bottle in and when I asked about Norman (he didn't have a name then) the owner said she was going to have him pts as she was sure I wouldnt want to take in such an oldie :(
He has put on over 300g and has had a very happy 18 mths with us here and his ladies. Strangely he was neutered already. A lovely boy :)

Then we have Snowdrop who came in because her two hutch mates had frozen to death overnight and the owner couldn't be bothered with the last one ! When I picked her up she was being fed dog biscuits :(

Then there is Cloud who came in because the owner said "She don't do nuffink" ! Well she obviously had been doing something as she had 4 babies 6 weeks later :{ She was a great mum but had a few health problems for a while so she joined the gang here.

Then finally we have Daphne. She came in from the noisiest house ever, there were 4 children under the age of 5 and poor Daphne had spent 5 years living in their lounge. They called her Beastie or The Beast and nobody liked to pick her up because she "was a for biting". So she had lived on her own too terrified of people. She did give me a jolly good bite on the first day but has been a poppet ever since and I renamed her Daphne as it seems to suit her and is far prettier, just like her.

They all live indoors of course but on especially good warm sunny days they love nothing better than to rumage through the grass under the apple trees. I love them all very much.

Oh look at them, they are all gorgeous x)x)
I love baby piggies, dont get me wrong they are beautiful but there is just something with the oldies, i love golden oldies.
Whether it be a cat, dog, hammie etc they are just so lovely to take on.
I would love to open a golden oldie rescue.

The photo of them is lovely.

Daphne lounging in the shade with Cloud's bottom disappearing into the "wine cooler" :)

What a lovely picture and what sad stories!

I'm sure they all know only too well how lucky they are and are enjoying life and each others company even more so! They are all wodnerful characters!

Whenever I think about the thousands of guinea pigs that exist (you can't call it life) in sad, neglected circumstances without a rescue or a loving home ever touching them, I get the cold shivers and hot guts!

Look at that cute little bottom sticking out :))
They are all gorgeous x)x)
So glad your far away or i'd want to come for cuddle's every day

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

That's just fantastic. What a huge joy their lives must be compared to their pasts - true pigs de rescue (just a slight bit of pigeon french coming in there!).

Cloud - with Daphne (again)

Daphne is blind and has ongoing health problems but she seems happy enough and she really looks forward to her time on the grass. The open space doesn't seem to bother her - I could spend all day watching them eat the grass and sunbathing. !

Yes the golden oldies sure are special. :)

Oh bless her heart.
Yes i agree they truly are special ones
Loads of hugs and kisses to them all

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Norman is a very lucky boy to have such beautiful wives.

AWWWW - great pictures! And very special piggies!

I have had a blind (cataract) piggie once, and she wasn't really bothered about it once she got used to it after a few weeks.

Great photos and great stories too!

I love them all ... especially Snowdrop (as you know, I have a very soft spot for her! :a19:)

I did smile at this - "Then there is Cloud who came in because the owner said "She don't do nuffink" ! Well she obviously had been doing something as she had 4 babies 6 weeks later :{ "

Tears of sadness turned to joy reading their stories...........i'm deeply touched by how they've all come ahead so well xx>>>xx>>> You're just wonderful xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I love their pigtures each one of them is absolutely precious x)x)x)x)

UPDATE

Sadly, both Norman and Daphne have both passed away recently. :(

They brought so much to my life here at LB and they were an absolute pleasure to look after and care for. They both made it so easy to love them and they will always have a very special place in my heart.

Run free together now my sweethearts - mummy will love you always.

Snowdrop and Cloud are well and have now been joined by the delicious Trevor - the lovely Peru that asked me if he could please stay here at LB :)

I'm so sorry to hear this Louise, it's so sad to lose these special pigs but at least they had a great deal of love in your care. Sending hugs

RIP Norman and Daphne, but i am sure the rest of the herd is looking forward to spring coming back and getting onto that lush grass!

Oh Louise ... so sorry to read about Norman and Daphne passing away.

You gave them such a happy live - a new start. They loved living with you and the green lush Devon grass, I am sure of that.

Run free little sweethearts xx
