Junior Guinea Pig
So stressed right now.
Edmondo is unwell, he was fine up until this morning when I found him looking uncomfortable and clearly in pain. He also had a runny eye and was refusing to eat. He was seen to this afternoon but I was at college so wasn't there for the appointment. He was given a pain relief injection and I have to continue with oral metacam twice a day as of tomorrow. They couldn't see his teeth properly as he had food in his mouth so was told to see how he goes.
Well he's still the same, refusing to eat and refusing critical care. Ideally he needs to go to the vets tomorrow to go under GA to have his teeth checked and whatnot. However my family are telling me to see how he goes a bit longer. Which if it's teeth then waiting longer is going to achieve absolutely nothing. I don't want to be forcing critical care in when he's dribbling it out and not wanting it, as I don't want to cause him to aspirate.
Then there's my Little-pig, he's very skinny and has been since November when he lost his companions. I've always put it down to just grief as it only dropped off him when he was alone and no longer had company. Now I'm starting to wonder if he has anything.
Was supposed to be getting him a companion in a few months but that won't look likely at this rate.
Don't know what to do. Oh yes Edmondo is Daisy's son, if anybody remembers my Dalsy with jaw arthritis, elongated tooth roots and abscesses. She had to be put to sleep in the end as it all got too bad. She was only 3.5 years old. Edmondo has made it to 4 and he is inbred. Obviously I want to do everything that's possible to make sure he can live a long life. However if he does have dental issue and they're as bad as his mum's was, then is it fair really to put him through it?
