Not sure if this is the right place to post this.

I don't feel like my two sows are drinking enough. I've only had them since Saturday evening and I can see and hear them drinking from the water bottle but it barely looks like they've drank anything. Are they supposed to drink a lot? Is there anything I can try to see if they want to drink but just can't use the bottle? Should I put water in a bowl and see if they use it?

Thanks a lot

You can test the water bottle with your finger to check that it works just in case there's no water coming out for them. You could also put a bowl in for them if you're really worried but you'd need to change it frequently as it'll get dirty quite quickly. Do they get plenty of fresh veg? It may be that they get enough water from that. My boys don't really drink from their water bottle at all so I just soak all their veg in water and they seem to get enough that way - there's certainly plenty of wee coming out of them so they're getting water from somewhere!

I gave them broccoli, red pepper some cabbage and two slices of carrot this morning and I washed beforehand but didn't dry properly so it would still have water on them. The water bottle does work I can see bubbles when they're using it. I just wasn't sure how much they should be drinking.

Thanks for your help

From my understanding all piggies are different in the amount they drink. I was worried too when I first got mine but as long as they're peeing plenty I don't worry too much. If anything I now worry when I do hear them drinking from the bottle!

Yes definitely agree that all guinea pigs are different when t comes to drinking water. My group of 4 drink about 1/2 bottle a day but the group of probably don't drink that much in a week. If they're getting plenty of veggies some piggies get enough water that way.
