i have had my piggies for about 9 weeks now and ive only seen them drink water about once! is this ok. are they getting water from the fruit and veg they eat?

Thye will be getting their water from the vegs espeically if feeding cucumber melons lettuce. My girls were the same until about a year ago when they reach 4 now they drink lots.

Hi Dannyr,

Don't worry...its not really a problem. They get plenty of water from the fruit and veg they eat. My pigs don't generally drink that much. Only if they've had a lot of dried food or if the weather is warm.

How do you put the water in the cage? Is it in a bottle? Do they pay if attention when investigated their territory? If they do i wouldn't worry, when they need to drink they will. And remember, you can't watch them all the time...they will drink if they need to...

Zoe.

My oldest piggy doesn't drink all that much either but like theothers have said, he'll eb getting from his veggies.

I also make sure I give him cucmber etc just to be on the safe side

I've never seen my piggies drink much (unless it's hot or they've had a lot of dry food.)
I think they must sneakily do it when I'm not watching, because they've never had any dehydration problems!

Mine don't drink a lot either but they eat cucumber and celery. Just wash all veg and they will get added water that way too.
