Hi everyone! My brother was picking up Eddie and he slipped out of his hands, he caught him before he hit the floor but then still got out of hands about 8 inches above the floor, it is hardwood. I felt Eddie all over and moved his joints and felt his spine and he didn’t seem to be in any pain at all, but half an hour later I went to give him some of his favourite treats (oxbow vitamins) and he wasn’t really interested which is weird for him. I felt him all over again and no signs of pain (he is very vocal if he’s uncomfortable). I’m considering booking a vet appointment if he still doesn’t want to eat in the morning, does anyone know what might have happened? Or if this is super urgent? He’s eating a bit but not how I’d like him to.

Yes, there is no harm in seeing a vet. I hope things turn out OK. It is very easy to lose hold of them and unfortunately guinea pigs aren't good at landing the way cats and dogs can. Good luck with this ❤

I’m sorry your piggy had an accident. I hope he’s eating ok now. Sometimes they can break their front teeth in a fall. Definitely see the vet if you are worried.

Keep an eye on urine output etc watching for any blood, and the colour of her gums, paleness or blue tinges indicate possible internal bleeding. Falls can really vary on severity, most of the time they're a little rattled but absolutely fine, whoch will likely be what you experience. Unfortunately my experience was different when my piggy Hazel jumped off my lap barely 30cm onto the bathroom floor, she landed hard and caused herself catastrophic internal injury leading to her passing away 2 weeks later in spite of multiple vet visits. She seemed absolutely fine the day of, but the next day she had lost the use of her back legs, became incontinent and was passing a lot of blood in the urine she was passing.

A vet visit certainly wouldn't be a bad idea just to be safe, fingers crossed he was just a little shocked and is back to his old self for good!
