After having Frazzle since last Thursday, I've noticed he doesn't seem to be eating much hay. He has it in his hay rack, stuffed in 2 toilet roll tubes and in his house but it doesn't appear to be going down. It's different hay he was being fed before, is it because he doesn't like it or is he just eating a little bit with only being 9 weeks old?

I would think that he is unsure of the new type of hay. Piggies can be very fussy eaters sometines! Can you mix it with some of the hay he was eating before, and gradually put more of the new hay in?

Yes I think I'll have to try that and if he still doesn't eat it then change it.

Not sure. I do know my boys ate more hay as they got older. Also they didn't like timothy hay but go nutty for oaten or meadow hay. Your baby could be adjusting to a different hay.
Hi! I agree with Lilly. My boys were fed on Timothy hay for their first year but just recently they have decided they don't like their Timothy hay or their pellets so I had to switch on both. Their absolute fave hay is meadow hay! They go crazy for it. It's gr8 because the long strands help to wear down the piggies molars. I use the bob martin meadow hay and it's amazing! I get it in asda and it's £4.50 for 3.5 kg which lasts me around 2 and 1/2 weeks. He may just be adjusting to the tastes of the new hay. Don't forget that it hasn't been long that he's been with you so he's probably still nervous. Make sure he has plenty wooden chews in his cage because if he stops eating the hay his teeth will still be growing so the wood should help keep them down : )

Oh and did he used to have a hay rack at his old home? My boys hate their hay rack so I don't bother using it anymore. I don't think that they hold enough hay and the bars on them are way too small for them to pull the hay out : )

Try switching that hay and also put it in a big pile for him to play in rather than the hay rack.

i got new hay from internet. Thought it would be better for them . They refused to eat it so had to go and beg their normal hay from my friend down the road and give her the dearer stuff. They only like the cheap hay

Thanks everyone. He didn't have a hay rack before but i have been putting it in his hidey so he doesn't have to eat it out the rack. I have bought some different hay so i can mix them all and hopefully he will eat some.
