Guinea Pig Land!
Hey guys, wonder if I can pick your brains and get some advice.

My male guinea seems to have gone off his hay....he'll eat some, but not all of it like he usually does. He does seem quiet, and also feels a lil bit bloated (or maybe I just haven't noticed him gradually putting on weight).

I do wonder if its because of the hot weather and he just doesn't feel himself because of it, or whether a trip to the vets is in order.

He is eating some pellet food that I give him in the mornings (but he's never been a big fan of pellets) and still tucks into his fruit and veg that I give him of an evening like nobodies business.

He's out on the grass now and munching away as usual.

When you say bloated, does his tummy feel tight/taut and springy? Or is it soft and squishy, just normal piggie "chub"?

Some piggies are more inclined towards wet fresh foods and grass in hot weather, that could be why he's not eaten quite as much hay. That he is still eating is a good sign.

Oh yes it is definately squishy....not tight. To me he just looks like his waist gerth has grown in the past week or so...I suppose it could just be he's holding water maybe.
