I've been reading up on boars, impaction and general heath! I must admit I didn't realise you have to check there pellet sac daily, maybe if I did I would have reconsidered piggie ownership lmao :red! Just kidding!

Well anyway.. I've been worried about Fred and decided to check him for impaction :red! Nothing like getting up close and personal :)>>>!

Fred obviously wasn't too impressed either and trying to hold a piggie still and check is a nightmare! We weren't very successful! I have no one to hold the piggie still :(!

Before anyone suggests me asking a friend it's not happening they will think I have finally lost the plot! rolleyes

Anyone got any suggestion on the best way to hold the piggie and check ?/!

No I never might try that it's the position of him I can lie him on his back but you can't see unless I have him facing the other way which he just hates! :(

I can't believe I'm even discussing this lol!

Boys rolleyes

If you wrap him up he might not wriggle so much then I usually sit with my knees up and lie them back so they don't go too far back and feel frightened but enough so you can get a look at the :x bits.

At least you only have one boy to look at - I have to look at 5 sets :)>>>

I wrap mine in a towel,be gentle but firm otherwise they will wriggle free,my boys are experts at recieving area inspections,they now just lie there and let me do it half the timerolleyes

i-love-pigs- I have 13 sets everday lol! soon to be 21,i think I'm crazy!

Let us just say your elevator might need servicing as it may not being going right to the top ;):))

Very cool to have that many wee bods running around and chatting to you hun.
 
When I used to check Porthos, he'd get frightened if he was wrapped up in a towel and even worse if he was on his back so we came up with a new way -

I'd hold him on my hand/arm so he was facing my elbow with his bum on my hand.
I'd be cradling himinto my tummy so he felt safe.
Then I'd gently roll him sideways a bit up my tummy so his belly was facing outwards.
With my first two fingers, I'd get 'that' area exposed and then my other hand would be free to do the 'insepection'!:red

He'd generally be fine with it. Although on more than one occasion he'd be a bit too smelly for me! :)>>>:))
He used to get sperm plugs (I think they're called) after his second bladder stone op so I had to help him out down there quite a bit!

I may try that sounds good... I'll continue my reading on what I'm looking for lmao! They say guinea pigs are easy to look after pets grrrr! Thank goodness I did my research rather than Rely on what the pet shop advice says and I'm still learning! Thank goodness for Fredo and his good nature!
 
My lads just lie back and think 'Oh no here we go again' It's amazing what I have pulled out of my lads willies and bums. Thankfully no impaction. One of my fave jobs. xx

:)):) lol... lie back and think of England! I know what you mean about finding stuff up there... I suppose a good advertisement for fleecey floor would be not more chippings stuck in awkward places!

The nearest we have is a red fleece but I have seen some nice flowery ones which I may get!

Know what you mean - when mine free run they drag their behinds across the rugs and end up with dog hairs in places dog hairs should never be :x

Well the girlies can't use the ramp mallethead, so Fred can have blue in his bedroom :))! After all he only visits the girls when hes gets a bit urmmmm frisky :x!

Isn't he just! thankfully there have been no urine sprays yet, but after the first night the 3 of them were soaked in wee :)>>>! We shall be having bath time fun soon, maybe the girls will entertain him when he smells nicer lmao! :))
 
After Telyn had another BIG season, I had to wash down the whole cage - sprays everywhere... God bless teenage girls and their hormones! It's not just the boys, you know! mallethead

Llewelyn is of the firm opinion that his private are private, so I usually have a little tussle before I have him on his back. Thankfully, he's a rather tidy fellow, and fleece helps a lot!
 
Honestly, I thought we were all grown ups here but you start talking about boy piggies and their willies and you go all giggly and daft!
 
No faint heart's here all I've read is whip them out check them out pop them back. See nothing giggly or daft at all ;)
 
Nope i cant see anything giddy or daft either! Just discussing male behaviour and health checks :)! It is important anyways it took me an hour and Fred wasnt exactly happy or helpful in the end got him wrapped in a towel and propped up with my knee! I do hope he becomes more helpful on the plus side he is fine!
