Oh my god that is scary!Think i may have been led into a false sense of security with these little guys!Hope you recover soon.x

Aren't they like dogs, once in the heat of the moment they don't care what gets attacked... Thats why some dogs bite their owners and then realise afterwards :s One of my pigs is starting to become quite bitey, but like attacking me, not the odd nip

I was bitten by a rabbit (buck) once while separating two that had got together and were fighting. One gripped my hand and was literally handing off of it. I still have the scar 10+ years later luckily no stitches as was nowhere near as bad the OP. that looks scary.

Jug of water? That's abit extreme don't you think? :p
When bonding my piggies, Paula brought a dustpan to separate them just in case of a fight.

It looks very sore! I didn't think piggies were capable but shows how brutal fights can be. I thought your finger had totally come off at first :...
Hope it heals soon.
not extreme at all, if you have 2 pigs that are rolling around like a football locked together tearing chunks out of each other then a dustpan will not seperate them, and the longer you leave them the more chunks they will rip out of each other.
yes using a dustpan if they are challenging each other but once they are locked in combat water is the best, and it is only water nothing that can hurt them.

I suppose the guinea pigs could accidently be injured by the dust pan too! Water might sting their eyes but is unlikely to cause an injury and I suppose if you dry them off then its just like a quick bath rinse!

Oh deary me!

Hope it gets better soon!

When it's healed over make sure you put plenty bio oil on it! It's god send that stuff! xxxxxx

owch! that looks really painful. I hope you recover quickly.

I can also recommend the bio oil for reducing scars, its fantastic!

how can water sting eyes?

how can water sting eyes?

Water has a different salinity to eye fluid , in humans, and it can sting and it does sting my eyes when it goes in them. Try flushing your eye with tap water and see how easy it is and how sore your eye gets lol :-P saline on the other hand would not be felt but who wants a salty pig!

better a little stingy eye then pigs that have got lumps ripped out of them, i say.
