yesterday we moved our boys into thier new bigger cage, larry who's an adventurous pig has taken to it fine but Tufty, the more timid of the two seems to have taken a step back and having become more sociable over the last couple of months has taken to hiding away more.
i'm not too worried and figure in a day or two he will settle but the OH is really worried (aged 40 and the first ever pet!) he is eating well and has been out for floor time today and there is no sign that he is unwell, they have the same furniture etc.
is there anything else we can do or will he just settle?
thanks.

make his favorite corner of the old cage in one of the corners of the new cage. he'll be back to normal in a day or two.:laluot_31:

Aww wee soul x>>

When i moved my boys into new cages, one of them was the same but after a few days he was back to his old self.
I wouldnt wouldnt worry too much. Wee guy just needs time to get settled.

Do you have anything that smells like there old cage? :) Something like a smelly fleece or anything like that?
When moving my trio into there cage together for the first time, I made sure I put in one of their favourite cosies in which was very smelly as they had all been laying on the top of it aswell as inside. Lets just say, i've not known them be so settled and quiet!
He will be fine in time, he will be adjusting to his new surroundings. x

really tired and I read that your OH is eating well and has been out for floor time today hope he settles, piggie not OH xx

Piggies are prey animals, and new territory is potentially hostile. Just give your timid piggy boy time to settle in and get his bearings and he will be popcorning with his friend around the new cage soon! Some just take a bit longer...

Just remind OH how a first day in a new school building felt! ;)

just a little update, Tufty has seemed a little more like himself the last day or two and i've just had a phone call from the OH all teary and feeling proud cause tufty has made it up to the penthouse suite!
one happy little pig and a less stressed OH .....
