Hi, I have 2 guinea pig's and Pippin seems to like carrott but thats about it. Roly my other doesn't eat any really have tried him with different coloured pepper's (he will have a nibble on an orange one!), broccolli, carrots, apple, spinach, cabbage leaf, celery (will eat the leafy bit but only a bit), apple, banana and melon. He turns his nose up at all of it don't no what else to try any ideas?
Haven't tried Pippin with with all of those yet as not had her long x :)

They are sometimes wary of trying new things unless they've seen other pigs eat them first!

What about leafy green veg - lettuce, spring greens?
Grapes?
Cucumber?

If they're young they might get more adventurous, but some just don't like some things. I've got one who will only eat carrot - turns his nose up at everything else (but eats his dry food). Some of them will eat anything - like people, I guess!

how about kale, tomato (only small amounts) cauliflower, brocolli, baby corn, corn on the cob, as a few more things to try?

kale is usually popular with piggies :) and my lot love corn

check out the shopping list sticky there are loads more things to try, mine wont eat much fruit, their favourites are cucumber, con on cob with all the leaves, lettuce, and they love herbs :) i think its just a case of trying lots of things to see what they will eat mine wont most of the things youve tried either ::)

Hi oh have tried him with a sun dried corn on the cob which he ignored and try cumcuber all the bloody time as always hear piggies love them. I just have a fussy boy I thin xx0

I will get some kale to try tho have no idea what it is lol. I thought they couldn't have lettuce or tomato? Have tried a grape as well will keep persevering ^-^

mine wont eat corn on cob sun dried only the fresh stuff ::) yes they can have certain lettuces (no iceberg) and can have tomatos in moderation just like everything else :) i will get the shopping link for you :) kale is normally with the cabbages :)

Wow, so much stuff! Iceberg lettuce - would it be ok to feed that to a poorly pig i.e if it might not be getting enough fluids? Is it actually toxic or just low nutritional value?

Since I've been feeding mine a wider variety of fresh food they all come straight to the fronts of the cages at feeding time to see what's on the menu!

When it says 'in moderation' on carrots - how much carrot per pig is ok? I've got one that will only eat carrots (plus dry food and hay) and he has a carrot a day - sometimes a big one. Is that OK?

:)

well mine tend to get an inch of carrot each when i feed them carrot (usually 3 times a week) and i dont think you should feed iceberg at all i think if a piggies isnt getting enough fluids they best being syringed water :) you best asking karen or mary more about moderations and iceberg :)

Hmmm, I think Mr Bojangles (the carrot eater) is addicted - he gets quite cross and practically stamps his feet if not carrot appears in the morning! Perhaps he should cut down for Lent!
