All the rain we've had the last few days, has made me really dread winter for my piggies. :(

The bunnies are fine because they have the shed, but the pigs can't be moved into the shed because the bunnies need all the space really. There's also nowhere for them to be indoors and the garage isn't suitable because of fumes, etc. I guess I will have my old bedroom them, which is huge, and could have indoor cages, but would my parents allow it . . . hmm, it's worth asking . . .

They can't use their runs if it's raining, and I want them to be cosy, so am looking for bigger hutches (big enough to house three boys) and can't find anything . . . not in Ireland anyway. I'm gonna look on ebay and see if anyone will post to Ireland and if I can afford it . . .

Awww, I hate bad weather :(

Wow, that's amazing! Thanks I hadn't thought of that. I live with my parents though so the utility room and conservatory are out, they'd never agree, and I'm not sure they'd agree to me having them in my room but I could try to convince them . . . I'm pretty good at that. :)

I was just thinking, I could make shelves in the shed and make guinea pig pens on them. I'd have to ask my dad, it'd work out a lot cheaper than new hutches or cages though. Though whenever I suggest things we can build, my dad has some very good reason that it's not possible that I never thought of.

But he was going to build a shelf in the shed for me anyway to put the rabbits' hay and all on, but that stuff can just stay in the garage :) and I think I could have two shelves, about 6' X 2' each, which should be enough . . . unless there is some reason I can't . . .

Woohoo!

So I asked my dad about putting shelves in the shed and he said it should work and we'll get the supplies soon. :)

So I measured it and the 2 girls will have a 6ft X 2.5ft cage, and the 3 boys will have a 5.5ft X 2ft cage. See I want to get two more girls possibly, so I want to give them the bigger cage. :)

The shelves will be open pens, because it's easier. I figured if the fence bit if about 30cm high that should be ok, similar to a c&c cage. And they'll have fleece and vet bed bedding, snuggle safe heat pads in the winter, and their log cabins and maybe another hidey house and other things. :)

I'll still put them out on nice days though.

They'll be so snug and cosy for the winter, yay. That's made me a lot happier about having them outdoors.

I can't wait! I'll make a new thread in housing when it's built.

That sounds great. So pleased your dad's up for it. :)

Yep cos my dad has to build it! He's pretty good, the shed originally was storing some of his stuff, but also the dogs slept in there, but he took his stuff out so I could use it for the rabbits (and now the pigs too) and he built cages in there, and then he gave up his other small shed for the dogs to sleep in! It was his idea, but I'm so grateful, they love their shed. :)

He also is putting up a fence round the garden for the dogs (they used to be in a very large run, but will now have the whole garden) and is digging up loads of concrete to put down more grass for the guinea pigs. :) And let me have one side of the garden for all the hutches and runs. He's great!
