Bumble my little teddy bear is just over a year old and normally an active piggie, i let her and the rest of the herd out in their run earlier and she didn't seem quite right not wanting to go anywhere and mainly hid in the hide which is not like her at all
i went out to shut them back in their hutch and run and feed them and she was already inside with her head on the floor looking sorry for herself, i fed them gave them some nice cabbage which normally she would be eating from my hand as she is soo impatient! but she just sat there and didn't even look at it
so i picked her up, gave her a cuddle brought her inside and put her on the floor and that's where she stayed with her head on the floor only moving a small bit when mum knocked a chair making a noise

so i have got her inside for the night in a small hospital cage with lots of hay, food and cabbage and other than lifting her head slightly to have a small look around she hasn't moved from where i put her and is showing no interest in food!

any idea what could be wrong and how major as she has gone downhill fast, she was her normal bouncy self yesturday

If she is unresponsive & sitting fluffed up she needs urgent vet treatment. Please ring your out of hours vet for advice, I would not give cabbage tonight just in case. Has she got an upset tummy at all? Is she poo-ing normally?

she seems to have perked up a little, she's turned round and starting nibbling a bit of hay :)

not sure on the poop front as she lives with 3 other piggies (not sure which are hers) and don't think she has done any sonce being inside

If she stops eating/pooing then you really need to get her to a vet quickly, as her gut will slow down which is very dangerous :( Please ring your vet for advice & definitely get her to the vet first thing in the morning if you can't tonight. Has she been out on the grass today? It's possible she may have bloat if she has eaten too much spring grass. Bloat is a medical emergency.

Please get an out-of-hours vet number from your regular vet's answering machine and have her seen asap!

The vet didn't think it is too serious, just a stomach upset she may have eaten something that didn't agree with her while out on the grass yesturday, she gave her an injection of something or other to make her feel better

she has perked up quite a lot, has have something to eat and drink, is peeing and pooping semi normally and is moving a lot more, at the moment she is munching on some hay :)

so good news :) I'm going to keep her in over night and probably put her back out with the rest of her herd tomorrow afternoon if she keeps getting better

Poor little Bumble :(
Please give her some gentle loves from us all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Keep an eye on her for the next few days tho.......... even when she's back out with her family :)

edit: regular weighing will let you know also if she's not eating properly
