i am such a moaner today, but my piggies aint eating hardly any hay, tried them on this meadow hay they wont touch it, so have two bags of that here, that Timothy hay with herbs was crap, so have written letter to company, another two bags wasted and tried them on amercian timothy hay, they wont touch that either - i am just not having any luck with hay at the moment - stuff i used to get i can't get anymore. They will eat pure dried grass, but is that enough if they wont eat of the hay, seeing as hay is supposed to be their most important part of their diet? they have their dried food and veg morning and night, but am just concerned that i cant get any hay they will eat :( they will eat just a bit of normal hay, which isn't meadow or timothy, is that ok? sorry for the moaning i just feel fed up :(

Mine seem to prefer cheap hay to timothy. I originally got bedding hay from Wilkinsons and timothy hay with herbs from P@H but they left the timothy hay in their racks and ate their bedding! So now I just get the Wilkinsons stuff.
The main reasons for giving them hay is for fibre and to keep their back teeth ground down.
At least now the weather's getting a bit better they can have the lawn too lol!

Maybe you could try mixing pure dried grass in with they hay?
Does the hay smell and look fresh? Pigs won't eat it if it's at all damp or slightly mouldy. Do they not like to lie on it at least? Mine never used to be great hay enthusiasts, but I started giving a big pile of hay at night times, and they really go for it

perhaps you could try oaten hay, think you call it oat hay in the UK. use it as bedding and they'll love it. my girls will eat any hay, hoping you find something your piggies will eat. i know what is is like when you have trouble feeding your babies. good luck O0 :smitten:

through the winter i used gried grass as hay too messy in cages with vetbed
its as good as hay i think! helps keep teeth down etc!
with runs on patio i use hay from P@H at the mo to use it up!
