not nsure of the best thing to do?!

Hello every one. I have 4 girls and 2 days ago rescued, from a friend of a friend, another piggie She wasn't sure of piggies sex, and turns out hes a little boar. Of course he is seperate from my girls but I'm not sure of what to do next.
A, I can get another boar to live with him as he's only 8 weeks old. This was my origional plan BUT, Ive been told that if the boys can smell the girls (they live in same shed,* that they will fight?) Is that true?

B. I can have him neutered when hes old enough and he can live with the girls. BUT, i don't know how riskly the operation is? I'm worried he'll die.

*They are living in the same shed, Not the same hutch but are close to each other, can hear and see each other. He's never been handled and is very scared. I'm just letting him settle in at the moment. x

Can't really offer you advice about boar pairing but I had my boar neutered when he was little so he could live with a girl. Neutering is risky but it can be even in cats and dogs.

Hey, i'll be honest i have 2 boars (3 really rip Stig8...) I think if you were to get another boy then yes i think you may encounter some trouble. You could get him neutered. I personally think it is such a big operation for such a small animal.
Could you bring him inside, that way he can get a buddy? Sorry i couldn't anymore help but i am sure someone who has a herd will be able to advise you best! It's a wonderful Cavy Family here!

Well, if they can smell the females when they're in season or whatever then the boys are going to fight and constantly too because they are going to want the sows. My advice would be to not put them in the same room as the girls.

Neutering is a big operation, I was thinking about giving my boy the snip and now I am not going to because I don't want to risk losing him just so that he can have a little girl friend. But if you told us where you were located someone on the forum may be able to direct you to a very cavy savy vet that has done the OP often and sucessfully. If that's not the road you want to take then I would get him to a rescue that does boar dating and find him a good friend so that they can live together AWAY from the girls.
