Hi everyone not posted for a while, been a busy few months with homeschooling!
Updated on snowy & mittens.
They made it through winter in the shed. So glad we invested in a shed but I’ll be honest I was still worried about them. We insulated the shed, also insulated around their hutch and also put a duvet over parts of it to keep the drafts out.
We rotated the heat pads, put socks over their bottles and it all seemed to work ok.
It was a struggle cleaning the shed when it got to its coldest. Not much space for me in there as we have given them most of the space in the shed. Anyway we made it through our first winter and both are still fit an healthy.
They still will not be picked up, they will come to us when we have treats but run away straight after. Still get squeaks from them when we go in to see them, but I have to say that’s about it in terms of affection and interaction.
Hoping when the warmer weather comes we will be able to interact with them more, we are buying a pen for them for outside on the grass to give them some outside time :-)

Sounds like they settled in well. Do be aware that may be the limit to their interaction with you. Piggies aren’t the cuddly pets they’re made out to be. Know that they trust you if they’ll come for treats and eat from your hand etc.

Sounds like you and they have settled into a routine that works for you. Hopefully when they see more of you over the coming months they will be more interactive. But as @Siikibam saus not all piggies like being picked up. If you can get or build a run large enough for you to sit in with them, that is a good way of getting them used to interacting with you.

My interaction with my boys is sitting in the shed with them and then pottering about around me. Dex will tolerate a little chin scratch on his terms, Popcorn is starting to allow a quick stroke on his head (once he has sniffed my hand and approved me!) but that’s it.
