One of my guineas seems to be doing okay, eating, pooing, scampering etc however for a few days he has seemed to almost have a blocked nose and today has stopped squeaking all together. His breathing is a little heavier and he just sounds like he maybe has a little cold. He was sneezing a lot the other week but that has stopped now. There is no gungy or crusty eyes or laziness so I don’t know whether he should go to vet or not but I’m a bit worried as this has gone on around 5 days now! Thank you!

And sorry but my guinea pig isn’t a new born either - whoops my mistake, wrong section he is an adult so not sure if this effects anything?

Your piggy needs to see a vet as a matter of urgency. Try and get him an appointment tomorrow. It sounds like he has a URI (Upper Respiratory Infection) which can prove fatal if left untreated.

Great thank you very much will keep checking on him and hopefully get an appointment!

Please see a vet promptly for a upper respiratory tract infection or potential pneumonia. The latter will not cause crusty eyes and noses in the more advanced stages. That is just one symptom of several; you do not always see all symptoms in an illness.

Cant say much more to what already been said but do you see heavy abdominal breathing or any clicking sound coming from the lungs? Def see a vet anyway

I can't add anything to what has been said above but I just wanted to reassure you that you have posted in the right section of the forum. The "new born pup" under your name is your status on the forum as a new member. When you post more this changes :)

yes his breathing seems fairly abdominal I’ve not managed to book one today but I have placed a booking for tomorrow I just hope he he will be fine until tomorrow however if conditions get severe then I will have to make time to go immediately
