A little bit ago, I was looking in the pigs cage, and Piglet was lying on his side, twitching very slightly. I panicked, said, "Piglet!" and touched him softly. As soon as I touched him, he jolted and ran full speed around the cage. He's been acting completely normal since then, and hasn't done it since. My OH thinks he might have been having a dream or something, but I'm not sure if gps do this. Any insight? :...

Totally chillaxed ??
Velvet lies on her side and doesn't move even when you prod her sometimes!

Oh Piglet please don't worry your mom so much :...:...:...

Many of us have had exactly the same thing happen, one of my pigs doesn't look like he's breathing when he's in a deep sleep and I have a mini heart attack every time he does it!

Sleeping piggies do dream and twitch, their little ears flap and their eyes roll about - all very sweet when you know they are sleeping but pretty freaky when you think something is wrong!

Piggies can sooo spook you, can't they?

And I am sure that they dream - I have seen Hywel waking himself up by rumblestrutting in his sleep!

My boy does this, he is usually laying completely on his side flat out in such a deep sleep and he twitches and looks like he is actually fitting, it always scares the life out of me, but he doesn't always come out of it straight away when i stroke him, and one particular time i got him out of the cage straight away and he was really really floppy so i panicked, grabbed the carrier to take him to the vets and he was fine, back to his normal strong self, so i came to the conclusion we was still half a sleep, but he has frightened the life out of me a few times.

My Abby has done this alot the past few days (the hutch's have been covered alot due to the rain so I'm thinking this is why). She has been in her snuggle when ive opened the hutch to check on them, she looks stiff with her eyes open, she will come round after i stroke her head, Its deep sleep. She scared me to death the first time.....

Mine do it to, especially on the early morning sun. Scares me everytime.
