Friends piggie is ok but i just wondered bout a few things
1. He is a long haired piggie so how often does he need brushed and do i need a piggie brush or will an old comb do?
2. How often do long haired piggies need a bath
and finaly
3. We currently dont have a bath (getting bathroom done O0) so would bathing him in the sink be ok or to hard
Sorry bout the questions just want to make sure he is happy and healthy! Thanks :smitten:

Hi, can't help you about long haired piggies but if it's any help we bathe ours in the kitchen sink :)

did she leave you a brush or any bathing instructions? how long is she away?

hi
i would try and brush him once a day, and if you have a soft bristled brush that would be ok, not sure about a comb :-\, might pull his hair and hurt. would you be able to get a piggie brush or baby brush or something, because that would be best.
doing it in the sink is fine, or you could use a bowl :)
and they only need bathing about once every 4-6 weeks unless he gets dirty, in which case you should get him clean as soon as possible. hope this helps, and good luck with your piggie sitting! :)

Shes away for 2 weeks and hasnt ever bathed piggie yet (she has looked at me funny when i mentioned this) so might just treat him to a bath when he is here. I must add she hasnt had him that long!
Anyone know what i could do to introduce piggie to veg as he doesnt really get a bowlful a day at home and is turning his little (cute!) nose up at what I'm offering.
Also what can i get him to chew on to keep his teeth healthy?
I'm sorry to keep annoying people with questions but i just want to make sure I'm not hurting piggie and i am really grateful for everybodys help. Much :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: to everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hey!

Dont be sorry... we like answering questions...

Have you tried giving him a bit of parsley... my pigs go mad for this stuff! but you cant give him too much as it is high in vitamin C (?)

If you ahve any UNTREATED pine lying around you can give him that to chew on :)

You could also buy wood chews from a petshop :)

good luck caring for him :)

The best thing for his teeth is lots of hay.

Parsley is too high in calcium to give regularly.

Things like romaine lettuce or coriander usually tempt most piggies!

aah... its calcium not Vit. C LMAO

Mine get parsley about once a week... but they love carrots, lettuce and tomatoe aswell ;)

I had real problems bathing Bob in the sink-he kept jumpring out and I got very wet! I always bath the boys in the main bath now and they love it

Well she has left today so piggie is all mine for 2 weeks! O0 His normal diet is just the mix bag out of Asda (i thinks its called guinea pig muesli) and the odd carrot or lettuce (as that is all they buy veg wise) I've just been giving him celery, apples, grapes and cucumber but he didnt think much of it. I bought him another bowl last night to see if that would help so i will keep you posted!
Really big thanks to everyone!

I would not bath him as he isnt your piggy, hes only with you 2 weeks and if he has never been bathed before, you dont know what could happen (if someone else tried to bath my maggs and didnt know what she was like they would have a biiig shock :o ;D ) :)

Iceberg lettuce is bad for piggies, there is a piggy shopping list on here that tells you all the good and bad foods :) O0 Its just a matter of trying different foods to see what he likes :)
