I will try pets at home tomorrow if it's not too late, I just wish he wud turn a corner, thanks everyonr

Is he been kept in at the vets or at home with you now?

He is with me now, taking him back to vets for the day tomorrow. I'm hand feeding him every couple of hours. Just talking to him so he knows he's not alone :(

I just feel helpless and he's so sad without his Florrie. He's losing so much weight. Poor little man

Keeping everything crossed - come on Winston, we're all rooting for you! x

Have you got Gut Stimulant to give at home?

No he had some at the vets today and no doubt tomorrow,
I tehought it glad to bro administered by a vet?!?

They can give you some for home as well and you syringe it to him as you would a liquid, well worth asking for if you aren't visiting the vets every day. Most used is Emeprid (metachlopromide) it will help keep the syringe feed pushing through. Lots of healing vibes for your little boy, will check in tomorrow to see how he is doing.

I've been to the vets every dayvtwicey a day this week. May just take myvsleeping bag tomoz :) my little man is mirroring how florrie went. Trying to stay positive but I think I know where this is going, I hate this

Sorry to hear about Florrie. You must be so tired, syringe feeding every couple of hours, you are doing an amazing job. I had to syringe feed my Caramel every 2 hours a few weeks back, and found it really emotionally draining, especially after just loosing a piggy (which was the case for me too :().
Keep going, and stay strong.
As someone said, you can get probiotics from Pets at home, or I managed to get Avipro plus from a local aquarium/fish shop. My vet also said I didnt need it, but I now know that he didnt know much about piggy care.
Is Winston still on antibiotics? I had to take my Caramel off Baytril (with other vets advice), as he stopped eating and got diarrhea. After that it took a couple of days of continued syringed cc, and Emeprid gut stimulants (also probiotics), then he started eating properly again. It was tough time, but glad to say he is much better now.
Thinking of you, try to get as much rest as you can between feeds. xx

He's just had 9ml of recovery and 3ml of water and vit c. I will try get pro biotic tomoz. His whiskers were going and he fed a little easier. Trying not to get my hopes up. He's just a kinda grumpy pig at the best of times lol, my little boy is heartbroken and wants to get up thru the night with me but he has school so I won't let him! I have been off work myself for the last week luckily or I don't think I could have managed!

you're doing an amazing job! i'm sending good thoughts your way and praying for Winston

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry about Florrie and poor Winston. This must be immensely hard for you, lack of sleep and constant worrying about your darling, which is entirely understandable. You are doing brilliantly. Sending lots of healing vibes, hugs, and thoughts your way.

You are all so kind and supportive, I've just got another 9 ml of recovery down him, he isn't exactly willing but he's not struggling as much. He's also done a few small poops :) alarm set for 3 hrs so I can get some more down before his vet visit! He is pretty much staying in his pigloo but he's never been an energetic piglet, he's the strong silent type :D he loves being sang too while we feed him..... Funny little fella

Aw, you are doing so great. And good that there has been a poop :yahoo:. Bless your son, is must be hard for him too. If your vet gives you Emeprid, it should help quite quickly, and isnt bad tasting, so easier to give. Good luck today, and keep being strong.

You're doing brilliantly and it's great that there's been a poop!

Keep on going Winston, we're all rootin for you......

I think the vet is sick of me calling and probably thinks I'm the bossiest woman in the world, she kinda thinks I'm crazy anyway cos I said he takes his food better if u sing to him lol! He's not even bothered what I sing. It was the alphabet at 4am this morning
He's still being hand fed but is pooping plenty. More of the gut stimulant. They seem pleased with him, I guess ibwill see when I go at 5pm, fingers crossed xxxxx

Sounding promising... (cautiously optimistic smile here) He is interacting with you and poops are a great sig. Paws crossed things continue to improve :)

I know it's too soon to celebrate...BUT he's sucking the recovery out of the tube again, lookin more energetic, and I'm really really hopeful. He still isn't eating on his own and still skinny (728g) but he's showing fight.

Gosh, I just read this. You are doing a fantastic job of caring for little winston. I am wishing him well.

Well done Winston and a SUPER well done mummy (slave lol). Seriously tho well done you and big hugs you're doing so SO well x wheeks from Smokey too x

Thanks lovely people :) I forgot to say, I bought some pro biotic and vit c and a supply of recovery food for emergencies. Unfortunately the vet doesn't stock oral metochlopramide stuff so he has to be taken to the vet to be injected, she doesn't think he will need it tomorrow as he is pooping, does this sound right?

Hopefully yes :) But if the pooing slows down or stops he will need some. They should be able to order it.

You are doing really well with him, lots of healing vibes to your beautiful little man

Awwww man! He's still feeding well but he's not pooped since last night. Should I drop him in the vets this afternoon for a quick injection of metrochlopromide? Might be worth asking her to order some for Sunday when they are closed. He's a bit fragile this morning, poor lil fella eating without too much trouble tho

I would ask your vet for more metoclopramide for the next few days to keep him going. His poo output reflects the food intake of the last 24-48 hours, depending on how sluggish his guts are. Keep on hand feeding and hydrating him. If necessary, use dioralite and follow the instructions.
The fact that he is still eating means that you are not facing a blockage or a full blown gut stasis.
