The end of last week I thought Lowri had lost weight. I went to get the scales and weighed him he was a fine weight. So as you do I thought its me being a bit over protective. Then on Sunday I noticed Eddie was at the food bowl before Lowri. Lowri always eats first and then Eddie. Cos Lowri is the boss. Eddie was bullying Lowri so I knew something was going on. I looked at Lowri`s eyes bit crusty, willy fine, bum fine, ears ok and teeth fine from what I could see. So then I thought may be hes hot, cut all his lovely long fur down. And then his poos got really small so I started syringe feeding, and keeping an eye on him. No improvement, So I took Lowri to see my Vet today and his lower bowl seems inflamed. So he was given an injection and medication and needs to be see next week. Lowri is going onto 7 now so the vet said it may be the bottom of his spine that is inflamed. Hes been made comfortable in my living room and I have had to wash him under his belly cos he keeps wetting himself. The vet said its cos he will have no control of his bladder cos of the swelling. I am hoping to see improvement very soon. Hes gotta go back to the vets next week.

Make sure he's not got pockets of gas in his system and make sure he hasn't got feacal matter backed up in his bowels either, because he'll go into toxic shock.

You probably know this already - just a heads up.

Good luck with your little man x

Lowri is making good progress hes eating better his poo is getting to look like guinea pig poo rather than rat poo. And hes not laying in his own wee. Fingers crossed he will continue.

Lowri is not good again I think it was the injection that picked him up. Now hes hunched up and doing the corner cage stare. 8...

I was so afraid to go in the shed this morning. As I put the key in the lock my breath was sucked out of me. I give Lowri last night a heat pad and he slept in the play area on his own but could hear the others. When I opened the door he was standing up watching Duncan chewing his bars as usual. I picked him up and his eyes look better than yesterday. But hes still very unwell. I give him a dish of food and hay and thought hes not gonna eat it but I will still put it down. He went to it and tried or was eating it. Anthony opened the shed door to think he was gonna have to dig another hole. And was amazed to see Lowri at his dish. I said hes a fighter for certain and as long as he will fight I will too. So if hes still here tomorrow I will take him back to Mark to see if he can give him the same injections as he did in January which brought Lowri back to life till now. Still keeping fingers crossed.

Yay - keep going Lowri! x

hes stable hes happy and checky. I think he has Gas cos I can hear it rumbling. So I put a landybird massager on the floor of the shed to give gentle vibrations. I will make another vet appointment though and see what Mark thinks we can do next. Hes shown interest in his food and I think hes eatten some. I have managed to syringe feed him easier than yesterday. Where as he was gasping for breath. These little ones dont half get you to run about after them. Fingers still crossed.

Thank you.
I went in this morning his eyes are bright, hes up running around, Coming up to the bars to great me. I put Eddie in with him and Lowri took charge of the food dish. This was the first thing he didnt do which let me know there was something wrong. The massager beetle bug is on the floor giving off gentle vibrations ( gonna cost me a packet in batteries lol). Suzy rang yesterday morning to see how Lowri was love her. She does all she can for the guinea pigs even when they are not her own. And I told her I could her Lowris Belly rumbling and we discussed it and thought its gotta be gas. I was gonna take Lowri back to the vets but hopefully what I am doing is working. Touch wood (my head) Very Happy
