all of their lives my guineas have had Pets at Home nuggets. However the shape and ingredients have radically changed . I am trying to slowly introduce the new ones but the girls point blank refuse to eat them. Anyone else had this problem and, if so , how did they overcome it ?

Hi, I changed mine over from the pets at home nuggets to the Burgess nuggets with mint. They smell similar to the pets at home nuggets but I think the ingredients are better? My piggies like them and didn't mind the switch

When I got my girls, I wanted to switch them to harringtons. I did do it slowly but they refused to eat the harringtons. I did stop and start again, second time round being more persistent. I just kept decreasing the amount gradually as advised then stopped giving them the burgess when it ran out. They did eventually start eating the harringtons.

I would just persist and keep offering the new ones as you gradually decrease the amount of P@H pellets. They’re small part of their diet (5%) so it wouldn’t worry me too much - as long as they are getting plenty of hay and a varied diet with vitamin c veg - coriander and bell pepper.

:agr:

I wouldnt worry - if they don’t like them, then they don’t like them.
If at all possible try to find a pellet which is grain and alfalfa (Lucerne) free but the reality is, pellets are such a tiny proportion (just one tablespoon per pig per day) that if they flatly refuse them, then they aren’t losing out a huge amount of anything if you can ensure they get lots of hay and a variety of veg, while you try to find a pellet they do like
