Nugget isnt well :(

Nugget has suddenly fallen ill, He has lost weight(in the last 2 1/2 days) and is looking depressed, he is eating normally, But the thing that worries me most is he usually squeeks like mad and he hasnt squeeked at all he is acting very out of charecter and i am extremely worried please help :'(
(sorry for not posting very often, I feel terrible for only posting when I need help )

In two days? Is he eating? What about drinking habits does he drink alot?

Are you sure he's lost 90 grams in 2 days that is over 3 ounces, do you weigh him? That is a huge amount of weightloss in 2 days. I would visit the Vet ASAP.

Four ounces - Get the pig to a vet. "

Well it has become quiet noticable in the last 2 days, he loves his veg and I'v seen him eating dry food, I dont think he liked the other dry food as he only picked at it, I found some nuggets he ate them then went and lay down again. He never used to drink alot, he gets most moisture from veg, I definantly think we''ll take him to the vets. Thanks.
 
Id go to the vets he might be run down or have a dental problem :) Poor baby wishing him the best! xxxxxx
 
I have nothing to add other than I hope that he is back to his usual self soon.
 
Hiya Holly, I'm sorry little Nugget is not well, I can only suggest the same as Joanne has. I remember Nugget being born, on his first day he ate a Nugget, so there was his name. Really hope the vet can help your little man. x

Thanks everyone. we went to the vet last night and he'd gone very limp and had got alot worse, The vet kept him in overnight and he is syringe feeding and giving him vitamin injections but the vet said he isnt responding well and that it could be a nuerological problem :'( they said call again at 6 so we'll know abit more then hopefully ...:/
 
My thoughts are with you...I have lost 2 of my pigs to "something neurological" I think they say that when they don't know what is wrong, I can't remember if you said if they were giving antibiotics or not, but it would seem like an idea to try them at this stage...also has he been treated for worms recently, I have a friend who's pig had neurological damage from worms, it might be worth a try to teat him for this too. It's a lot of guess work with guineas...i truly hope he's ok and hope there's some good news at 6 :) big hugs from me and my pigs x
 
We called at 6 only to find out poor litle nugget had passed away at around 4ish :-( I dont know what was wrong with him but the vet did say nugget didnt suffer :( R.I.P Nugget...

I would definitely take him to the vet, in the least, you can see if it's really bad or just something minor. Best of wishes to you and the little guy!
