Jasper and Smudge have been with us for nearly a week and both seem to be settling well, however I have noticed today that Jasper keeps picking up nuggets and then dropping them down again uneaten - they have Burgess nuggets.

He is eating hay and veggies no problem, I have weighed them both tonight and will keep an eye on that, looking at his teeth quickly (still getting him used to being handled) they seem to be ok.

Is this likely just to be him being a bit fussy rather than a dental problem (he has had dental issues in the past)

He seems well in himself and I will continue to monitor his weight etc

I would think he does have something wrong with his teeth as he keeps dropping the nuggets. It is a good idea to take him for a check up as you cannot see his molars and they may be the problem.

One of ours used to do this, she ate carrot etc, so i believed she was being fussy, but then again she was only 6 weeks old so we thought her teeth may not have been strong enough, as later on she did brake her teeth. . But if you're worried i would take him to the vets.
I would just keep monitoring his weight like you said.

Thanks will keep an eye over the weekend as I know he is eating everything else ok and if he is still doing it on Monday then a trip to he vets is in order.
He came from the Potteries rescue, so will check with them exactly what dental work he has had done in the past
