When I got Ruffle he had only ever had nuggets so I bought a bag for him. Jack has always eaten mixed dry food, and usually has the Tesco purple bag one.

When I put them in together today I decided to put one bowl of each in the cage with them so Ruffle could eat his familiar food if he wanted.

The nuggets are untouched and both boys are emptying the mixed food at a rate of knots. Just goes to show what they prefer!

I put out at least three different pellet types for my spoiled piggies and although they have different tastes on different days (a bit like us humans - assuming that you are all human) I have found that my Tesco purple bag always gets left until last. In fact, it usually gets binned as I do not want to 'force' them to eat it by leaving it as the only choice.

I guess they have as different tastes as we do.

Very scientific, I like it. :))

I've been through all sorts of dry food and have had a while keeping them on a pelletless/nugget-free diet, but have come back to feeding a small amount every other day. I have a selection of 5 different types of nuggets.........just so they don't get fussy. rolleyes

Best mix in my opinion is a variety of nugget brands, the pigs would eat a mix if they could but they are happy with nuggets.

My pigs probably prefer the tastiest part of mixed food, but leave most of it. They like pellets and will eat them happily so I just feed them pellets.

I used to be a good mummy and feed mine only nuggets but then I found a cheap offer on wag guinea crunch and decided a bowl of museli and a bowl of nuggets per cage of guineas can't do any harm (how wrong I was) now george and tia refuse nuggets so I have my top cage on museli and bottom cage still have a bowl of each!

When all the museli runs out (**** not for 6 months or so) then they are all going back on nuggets as they all seem rather chubby these days and they do seem to selective feed!

in my bowls i have half mix and half burges nuggets as i was worried about "selective feeding"..they dig out the pellets or nose them around the bowl and go for the cheeper muslie style food! no taste for expensive food! ^)^)

Does anybody's piggies eat the big orange and green cereal bits out of the Burgess Supa Excel?

I'm thinking of writing to Burgess and asking why they put them in there and whether the nutritional value they hold can be mixed in in another way. It seems such a waste everyone of my cages always has them turfed out the bowl. I spend so much on feed to throw most of it away. I feed a half half mix of nuggets and muesli and tend to stick to the Burgess because it's stocked at my local feed supppliers.

The only thing they're good for is feeding the blackbirds who seem to love them.

To the person above if you mean this mix ( http://www.forpets.co.uk/shopimages/products/normal/supa-rabbit-deluxe_image.jpg )

Then my rabbit used to eat them bits and leave everything else. Then if I didn't change the bowl fast enough he would pick it up in his mouth and swing it across the room LOL.
So I changed him over to Burgess Excel this mix ( http://www.feedem.co.uk/small-anima...276/burgess-complete-rabbit-179-6385_zoom.jpg ) by the way not the light one its the adult one but only pic i could find lol

I mixed his old museli mix with the new pellets and guess what he choose? The pellets :D I was so happy. Now when I shake the bowl he runs over to it and once feed time comes he goes looking at the bowl lol. So my guy is the oppisite he prefers it than the museli mix. Though he does eat the bits he likes out of the musli mix once his pellets are gone. I am still in the change over, I'm about 80 new food to about 20 of the old food.:D

By the way I know this is about guinea pigs but just my guinea pig just went on his pellets when I got him, its the guinea pig form of the second link i gave you there.

mine used to eat the museli mix food (from prettymuch anywhere) but then they started leaving most of it - I was throwing more than half of it away so switched to nuggets (burgess ones in the orange bag) they seem to like it.
The pet shop ran out once and I gave them the mix food again, they turned their noses up!
