Nut free guinea pig food - (allergy concern)

Hi,

I am a parent with kids that are severely allergic to nuts. Is there a guinea pig food
product that guarantees that the product contains no nuts. Moreover, can they guarantee
that no other products are produced on the same line as the said product.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. This obstacle is the only thing stopping me.

Cheers all!

I'm sorry, I don't have a clue, I definitely wouldn't risk using the muesli type mix but maybe the pellets you can buy would be okay? I really don't know though, but I do know the mixes are a very small part of a guinea pig's diet, their diets consist mainly of hay, then veg, then mix.

Hopefully someone more informed could give you some more information? Sorry to be a bit of a 'chocolate teapot'! :D

p@h nuggets don't have nuts listed on the ingredients. Perhaps you could contact them or other suppliers for best advice.
Good luck :)

I would ring around to be on the safe side. Tesco's mix says doesn't contain nuts but cannot guarantee it. But usually its just to cover their backs! I mean they sell peanuts and say may contain nuts! 98)

Good luck with it,

Louise
:)

I would go for pellets not a mix, that's more likely to not contain nuts..I'm not sure whether pellets would though - ring a few companies and ask them maybe?

as far as I'm aware nuts are not good for guinea pigs, and shouldnt really be in the dry food as its very fattening for pigs to have..so its a possibility that nuts are not included in any dry food.

Nuts shouldnt be in a guineas diet, so its more to do with where the food has been manufactured, so you need to contact them directly, as there is no other way of knowing if they have been in the same area as a product containing nuts :)
