As i was putting the piggies in their run today, i noticed Nutmeg had a bald patch on her belly. On closer inspection, it appears she has a lump 8... We are booking her in to see the vets this week, but I'm very worried. Shes acting herself, and it appears to be the only lump. What are the possible outcomes, and what should i expect? Ive never had a guinea pig with a lump before, so i dont know whats going to happen.

Poor Nutmeg, hopefully it's just a fatty lump. Lots of healing vibes to her, let us know how she gets on at the vets.

Aww sorry to hear about this, I seriously hope it is nothing serious and she's absolutely fine, sorry I can't offer any real answers to your questions... Didnt wanna read and run!

i hope the lump is nothing serious. it could be a fatty lump or sebaceous cyst so try not to worry it could be something more until you have seen the vet. easier said than done though i know. :)

I am sorry to hear Nutmeg has a lump. Many are just fatty and I hope this will be too.

Poor Nutmeg! The majority of lumps are harmless and quite common in older piggies; hopefully it is just a harmless fatty lump or a sebaceous cyst. But any lump should be seen and examined by a vet. We can't make a safe diagnosis via the internet.

I felt it this morning, and it is quite small. She is 2 years old, so hopefully she will be fine

Just been to the vets. They said that the lump had clear boundaries, and is quite mobile, and as it is only small, they have left it, and told me to come back if it gets bigger, or if i am worried about it/her. She said if it does get bigger, they will have to surgically remove it because of where it is(on the stomach) as she doesnt want it to cause her trouble moving.

Ah that's good that its nothing too serious! Hope that it stays how it is now! X

That's a relief then! One of my rainbow pigs had a lump like that behind her ear. The vets said more or less the same to us, and she was absolutely fine :)
