My sister has just given me some 'chocolate' treats, maize bar and a bag of green, yellow red fruit shaped.. i don't know what they are - they're dried, cruny shapes as a welcome present to gp.

My head tells me not to give anything artifiacial to him as I wouldn't give rubbish to my child but do they have any value at all?

What are your opinions on them?

Have to say my gut feeling would be like yours squeakywheeky - if I wouldn't eat it or give it to the girls I wouldn't give it to the pigs! The only "treats" I give my gang are Excel Nature Snacks (available in all pet supply shops) - they look like paper cigars and are full of dried grass. They are available in a couple of "flavours" but my lot love the dandelion ones. I also fill empty wc rolls up with hay and they love playing/eating these (cardboard tube too!).

I think I know the ones you are on about.. The coloured shapes - they are the fruity biscuits? My lot love them and the dandelion sticks only!

Used to be a chewy bar without seeds that everyone used to like, but I can't get them anymore

I don't feed these kind of things as many are full of colourings, and unhealthy ingredients... best kind of treat is nice fresh fruit and veg. As a treat my Piggy's love the occasional grape (have you seen a piggy play with a grape? It fabby!) or corn on the cob with leaves... delicious and nutritious and I think they even like those kind of treats more than the shop bought things!

I give my girls a mixture of shop bought 'treats' and fresh fruit/veg treats and they love them. I must say I'm not too keen on treats which don't make them work to get the food such as biscuits and yoghurt drops, however fruit sticks are great and brilliant for their teeth - my two love these and could eat them till the cows came home.

If you don't want to waste the treats you've been given why not give them to your piggie occasionally as a reward for doing something, like you'd give a child some sweets or chocolate if they've been extra good or tidied their room (bad example I know, but it works for me)
