Hi guys

So I haven't been here in a long time and I come in a time of need.

My oldest pig (approx 5 1/2) frazzle has not been doing too well.

He's been having ongoing dental problems for a few months now. He damaged a lower incisor and it has since grown crooked and he has to have his teeth filed conscious every couple of weeks.

This has been taking its tole on frazzle. His appetite is still there, he went off his pellets but I changed brand and he's back into them which is good.

I recently noticed he was looking a big scraggy so I got him out for a groom. His left side is shorter in fur and I've found a large abdominal mass.

He seems well in himself, he's going to the vet tomorrow to investigate but I have it in the back of my mind that it's only going to go downhill from here. He's looking so much older recently and he's lost a little weight.

Does anyone have any advice or comments? I love my boy but he didn't even enjoy his groom which he usually loves.

I'm sorry he is so poorly. The only thing I can think to suggest is a conscious xray so the vet can see exactly what the mass is. The hair loss could be because he is run down or if it is a tumour I know that can make them lose hair. I have had a similar thing with my hamsters when they have had tumours. I would ask the vet about pain relief too if he is not already on any.

Good luck for tomorrow. Your vet will advise you about tests and help you make the right decision
