Not been a piggie owner for that long (just a few months) and I;m already obsessed with piggies! I love coming on this forum and its probably the main one I come on now. I absolutely love buying him toys and treats and get all excited watching him playing with/eating them. I've became a bit crazy about buying veggies and have ended up giving him such a big mixed selection every night now (as opposed to just a couple of things). And now I'm starting a collection of piggie ornaments...I've already bought 4 of ebay, have a 'Want List' and am raiding charity shops and online shops to find others!

;D ;D ;D ;D you're not the only one, i so want some of these articles but really hard to get here in OZ, but i can dream :smitten:
Instead i get as presents a cushion or an ornament i know this is from the piggie/piggies O0 I know in the US they've got a number of sites that you can buy brilliant tshirts, aprons, placemats....you name it, ooo and mugs :) :) :) :)

tell me about it mines are so spoiled i'm always buying stuff for them

Not sure about the ornaments! ;)

I have spent an absolute fortune on mine already too (got him in January). I buy things then come on here and see something better! I saw some lovely little guinea pig bowls that I think I'm going to HAVE to buy and now I'm in the process of finding the best way to build an outside pen for them (will be the third home Spike has had in as many months!)

thank god iam not the only one!I have spent hundreds of pounds since i got my two boys in January. Love reading this forum too and anything pig related on the internet except something i just found on line about GP's being a local delicacy in south America 98)

lucinda-hope you don't mind me asking- what happened to Doctor Atkins and Angel-Doctor? Was reading on another post and you were saying that you lost them at a relatively young age.so sorry!

Dr Atkins became Angel-Dr on 28th Feb 2006 at the age of one. He had terrible malocclusion and had teteh trimmed twice. He had lost so much weight (was on syringe food only for the last two months of his life) and went into respiratory and cardiac arrest at my vets where I had taklen him for observation.

Poor wee mite! I thought it was two guinea pigs that you were speaking of, sorry. I was just thinking about the fact that i haven't lost a pet that i loved since i was a teenager and was given eddie & kev some cuddles last night and wondering how i would cope if anything happened to them. I have real difficulties reading about the guinea pigs that have gone to the bridge without become quite upset. I am sure it was so difficult for you.

Very painful. And I lost my darling Scarby only a couple of weeks ago, to cancer, and it was unbearable. He had already had a tumoht removed last year, and I thougth he was indestructible.

I'm like you katblack77. I haven't lost a pet in a long time and am so paranoid when I think about things like that. I look at my two and think what would I do if I they get ill. I thought about the alternative of not having a pet at all and realised that despite all the hurt and pain you feel when you lose them the happiness and joy gained from however short far outweighs that.

I read about Scarby Lucinda and I cried. I didn't like reading the bridge section either at first but it's getting easier and I now find it comforting that they go onto a special place. I lost my Grandma last year very quickly through cancer (my first real family loss) and reading about the bridge has helped me think she's up there somewhere happy, pain free and with our other pets Pussy Willow and Ben x :)

It helps me anyway :)

hi miss piggy!

You are very right. I was thinking the same thing not so long ago. I am hoping to get to females for my boys. And i thought but that will be more worry and stress about losing them and concerns about their health etc. But in a way that is selfish maybe of me. As i have the time and money to look after another two (six in total) and they will be great company for my tow boars who had to be seperated.

So sorry to hear about your grandmother. I work in a hospital for cancer patients and it's such a terrible illness. I am sure it is comforting to know that she is free from pain and is watching out for you.

Spelling excused.. I didn't notice anyway ;D

My Grandma was diagnosed and in less than 4 weeks she died. She died very peacefully at home with no tubes or anything which is very rare nowadays unfortunately. That is where she wanted to be and I'm thankful that her doctor realised she was going downhill fast and let her be discharged. I have so much respect for people who work in the caring profession and the macmillan nurses (who were only needed for 2 days) were wonderful.

This turned out to be a sad thread!

Either way I LOVE GUINEA PIGS!! :D :D :D :D

It's VERY easy to become obssed with the little fuzzy butts. :smitten:
