Hi everyone! :)p

I've put a brief intro on the sticky!

I just want to ask all the experts out their......having only had gps since February......is it normal to become sooooo obsessed with them so soon? ?/

Our guinea pig, Edward, has had quite a sad start, as far as friends go, having lost two. Now that he's had his op, we're hoping to find him a wife as soon as he's safe!

I would also like to know how others in small houses with no gardens get on looking after their piggies!

MY obsession with my wee friends is horrifically worrying, infact they are the equivalent to my children, and if I'm not talking about them, I'm doing something piggy related.

I live with my parents and the pigsters are in my room, but I'm at my maxium with 4... :( Boohoo!

The things I do for my pigs.. we have a wooden floor and thats just recent, the reason being for the pigs, I even got a dearer floor so it would be water resistant :))!

The instant obsession thingie is rather common on here and the bad news is that is lasts life long - I am one of those that have come back to keeping quinea pigs as adults.

Most people in flats have come up with fold up runs for exercise - some have been rather inventive and creative! My tribe is free ranging in the adapted living room during the day, but I wouldn't recommend that for rented accommodation!

You can always start a thread to that effect in "housing"; that way you will get the most answers.

I live in a flat with three flights of stairs to climb. There's a park outside but being Sweden has not really been warm enough to enjoy for the piggies yet. I've had piggies for 6 month and often spend an hour or two each day blogging about them and reading and posting on this forum Then there's the actual piggy care too :)) Yes, the obsession was quick and lasting... I can't see myself without piggies now...

I was obsessed before I actually got my pigs. I spent weeks reading up on the internet about the housing, bedding, foods, care, toys, etc... Since I got my pigs (5 months ago) it's only got worse. Then I found the forum which has been an outlet for my obsession. I get to talk about guinea pig poo, wee, hay (:(|)), sewing for pigs, and a whole range of stuff I never knew I needed to know. And lots of lovely people say even lovelier things about my pigs when I post their pictures. :(|)

I live in a one bedroom flat and only have access to a communal garden which is unsuitable for guinea pigs so I now have a big c & c cage and have given over a big area to piggiedom in the living room. Have also followed in the trend of growing grass in trays and foraging the area for dandelions (sometimes in the dark). :(|)

Mmmm... perhaps I need to get out more...

We started out with two and soon ended up with 12 of our own and we foster pigs for Becklen too. They really are addictive and you will find yourself looking at areas of your house that you could fit pigs into. I adored mine so much that we have a custome built shed for them outside. They are so rewarding to have as pets!

I love this forum... It makes it feel so right and normal to look at everything and think "Hm... I wonder if I can use this for my piggies somehow?". Here people won't make fun of you for asking about the best possible water bottle, hay and veggie combination and just be supportive and excited when you start a thread about your plans for resonstruction of your cage - yet again :)) I know this forum has given me new friends, but it has also made it possible for me to keep my old. Now I can talk about non-piggy related stuff for a whole afternoon feeling comfortable with the knowledge that my piggy quick fix is just an internet connection away... :))

It's wonderful to hear that I'm not going mad (not in the Guinea pig world, anyway)! Everyone at work tells me to 'get a life' if I won't have another man! But I think piggies are the way forward for me!

If you foster piggies are you expected to take lots in or be in ALL day? Think that with a bit more experience it is something me and my daughters would love to do! ;)

Each rescue is different, for Becklen, I take the number of pigs that I have space for or am comfortable taking and even at that I am not needed all the time. I'm not in all the time but I do spend a lot of my spare time with my family and pigs so they get loads of attention.

As for this site it has totally enriched my life as kind as my friends are they really don't care about the fleece vs shavings debate and if I tell them the cute little things my pigs do they glaze over.

On here the people are so supportive and have a nack of making you feel that being focussed on guineas is perfectly natural!

I'm the same ive only had my piggies about 2 weeks but i am completely obsessed with them. I'm always looking to give them a better life. I want to make a C&C cage but with lino instead. People i no think I'm nuts especially when i tell them I'm thinking of using fleece. They just dont understand :)
