Hi all!
I’ve noticed one of my pigs coughs a few times after food and occasionally does it in his cage.
Is a vet trip needed or will he be ok?

Coughing after eating is a sign of greedy eating and swallowing a lot of air. If it is only occasional and there are no other symptoms or history of URI, then I would not worry. Coughing in connection with a URI is a symptom of a well developed, un- or undertreated URI and would not happen on its own as an isolated symptom.

Both my greedy husboars cough and hiccup quite frequently when eating, and for about 10 minutes afterwards, sometimes Ollie's hiccups are very dramatic! But that's the only time they do it, we've had them both vet checked and they are just greedy pigwigs. When we had a piggy with the start of a URI she didnt cough at all but we noticed first that she started snoring when she was asleep, then she quacked like a duck when she tried to wheek, luckily we caught it early when it was just a sore throat and hadn't reached her lungs!
