Odd black scabby patch behind ear

E304AC43-A1E1-4A2F-ABE1-CEF5DE8E2071.webp This is my 4 month old piggies behind her left ear... it feels a bit rough but also looks a bit ‘crusty’ on her other ear in the same spot it is bold.. could this be to do with her rosettes since she is Abyssinian?
 
All piggies have bald patches behind their ears but not usually rough and crusty like this. The shape and location of the patch might suggest the start of a fungal skin infection like ringworm. Please contact your vet, in the next few days, if you cannot see them in person please send them the photo, they can advise best and say if she needs some treatment prescribing x

Hi!

Guinea pigs regulate their body temperature via the blood flow through their ears; they do not sweat or pant. That is the reason why they have bald patches behind the ears so they can ventilate freely. The shape of the patches in unique to each piggy, but they should be look the same and feel the same. If the crustiness or baldness increases, please contact your vet for a potential fungal skin infection; there are more around than just ringworm, which is the most aggressive and transmittable.
