Hi, I have currently 3 four month old guinea pig brothers who are currently all fighting. I have one guinea pig named Popcorn who is getting constantly and aggressively attacked by his other two brothers Oreo and Peanut. This aggressiveness towards Popcorn has been going on for almost 2 weeks now, at first the fighting was not bad, they would only just chase each other but then recently Oreo and Peanut will just attack Popcorn to the point of almost shedding blood. I have now had them separated but the weird thing is that Oreo and Peanut get along just fine, it is Popcorn they are very aggressive towards. I need some help understand this behavior because I know that males will be fine with just males but all of mine are being super aggressive. These three are all brothers from the same litter so I was just wondering if I could get some help or tips what I can do to help them get more along.

Unfortunately a trio of boars is the most unstable grouping you can have and very rarely works out. You are lucky in that all 3 haven't fallen out and you don't have 3 single males. I would keep Oreo and peanut together and take popcorn to a rescue for boar dating if possible so he can pick his own friend

Hi and welcome!

Unfortunately boar trios (whether related or unrelated) are extremely unstable when they hit puberty at around 4 months. The vast majority end up with separation before they reach a hormonally somewhat more stable adulthood. Even then trios are the constellation most prone to outsider issues of some sort or other. Sadly it is a widespread and perpetuated myth and misconception that brothers will not fight; it all depends on personality balance and not on growing up together. Dominant brothers will fight and fall out just the same as unrelated boars.:(

Ideally you split your trio and try to find a stable couple of boys in there. leaving them all together can land you with three boys where none will go back together with any of the other about as often as three boys will actually be able to stay together (about 10% of cases each).

Please take the time to carefully read this guides. It will take you in detail through the teenage months and what you can do and your various options after a fall-out and a separation. Boars: Teenage, Bullying, Fighting, Fall-outs And What Next?
