It's not something I've seen before, and I'm thinking it's something harmless, but I wondered what people thought. It is very small (not anywhere near as big as the sort of cyst that needs lancing), and has a black head to it. I've taken a photo, but it hasn't come out too well.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. :)

If you touch it, does it cause her any pain?

Is it flat, hot or is there a swelling underneath?

It seems dry,, although I haven't tried squeezing it. Doesn't seem to bother her at all, eg. when I touch it.

That is strange! It could be a regular sebaceous cyst with black contents - if the cyst is right on the surface of the skin, the skin could be "transparent" enough to show the colour of the contents.

Thanks everyone.

Yes, I think it must be the contents that are black, as it isn't blood, I'm sure. Will keep a close eye on it...

Just to update on this, the 'thing' actually got quite big, and Sukie made it bleed terribly the other day (always a bit alarming to find a white animal with blood all down its face!), so it was removed under local anaesthetic today. Hope it doesn't come back...

Eek, I can imagine your horror on finding her bloodied face! Poor girl. Glad it has been removed. Would be intrigued to know what it was, I've not heard of many lumps doing such a thing!

Thanks! Sukie is a weird pig - she gets things that others wouldn't! :))

Seriously, the vet preserved the growth in case it grows back and needs to be tested later to find out what it was. Hopefully I'll never need to know!
