One of my boys, pippin, sometimes gets soft poops. All is well, I take them off veggies for a few days and everything goes back to normal, however, today I noticed something rather odd. He had a weird, dried thing over his butt (the spot where they, you know, release). And it scared me HARD. It was brown, with little bits of green on the outside and it was a creamy color closest to the butt. It was dried and I couldn't pull it off with little force. So i put him down into the cage and see if I could find anything online. Nothing seemed like this. When I came back to see if I could wash it off, it had peeled off and i couldn't find it. I was going to try to take it to the vet, but i couldn't find it. Any ideas on what this could be? He's not lost weight, is still eating and drinking and is running around perked up as usual. PLEASE HELP!

The green bits are undigested veg (if your boy had eaten carrot, you'd see orange bits). The white can calcium from pee or from stuff in his anal sac. Soft poos tend to become very hard when they dry and require soaking in some baby warm water to remove gently, which also goes for any soft poos caked to the feet.

I would recommend to talk with your vet about his recurring digestive issues. How much veg are you feeding? You may also want to see whether it is a specific veg that causes the problems and whether he may need gut stimulants to help him. A course of fibreplex could also be something that you could consider and discuss with your vet.

Please weigh him weekly and shift to weighing daily at the same time whenever necessary.
