Just yesterday I took Odie out of his cage and cut his nails, as I held the bottom of his paws I noticed that he had rough skin or something to that on them. It looks like it might be a bit painful, but he doesnt seem to bother him too much that he cant walk. I didn't know what it could be or what I should do, so I bathed him with a medicated shampoo that they had given us for Patchy when he was still alive. I left it on his footies, and plan on doing this for the next couple of weeks to see if it betters. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Oh and the shampoo is called "Malaseb" (sp).

Is it just like horny skin? Many guinea pigs have growths on the underside of their paws that are called spurs. You can cut them back if they grow too long, but not too close to the skin.

The two thoughts in my mind are foot spurs and bumblefoot. More likely to be the former as spurs are very common. There is a thread on them somewhere, I will find a link.

Malaseb is an anti-fungal shampoo, it's unlikely to help unless Odie's feet are affected by a fungal problem.

Thanks everyone, I will post a picture up of it soon. Its not bumble foot, but i think it might be the spurs one. Does look kinda like dry skin. I will post a photo up tomorrow as I am extreamly busy at the moment today.
The Malaseb was given to us for Patchys fur when he was dragging himself on the floor. It worked fine. :) But I didnt know what else to do, and was running short on their shampoo at the moment. >.<

What do you all think? Need me to circle it? >.<
oh and sorry its kinda blurry. Thats the best I could get. :(

Good - a big fraction of guinea pigs develop spurs and they are not to be worried about.

Thats a huge relief, thank you guys and gals so much. :))

I agree, it looks like a foot spur. You can trim these off, just don't cut it so close to the foot pad that you could cut into the pad. You should be able to trim the majority of the spur off with human nail clippers.
