Can anyone help me?

Not been on here for ages as not had internet at home,
1 of my boys seems abit off, he just seems to sit and stare in to thin air, he's not eating much food and has a pooy bottom some times,
i wondered if they had had a falling out and he was scared but seems ok at times, we gave them a bath together which usually settles them both down,
he used to be such a happy piggy but looks very sad at moment and wants lots of mummy cuddles I'm just hoping this isnt the end for him :(

anyone any help or advice?
do i take him to vets?

:(

Please take you pig to a vet, these are the signs of illness not unhappiness - do you need help finding a good piggy vet?

he's off to the vets tonight,
i am so scared i cant stop crying.

my poor little boy i hope he will be ok

Best of luck; I hope that your vet can get to the bottom of it! The huge change in temperatures we are currently experiencing is very stressful for piggies.

Please always see a vet asap if your piggy is going quiet, losing weight and going off food. That is the reason why we recommend to weigh your piggies once weekly - scales don't lie!

Thank you, i weigh them regularly and he is as the same as always,
they are very pampered pets both my boys and very well looked after and very spoilt, thats why i have noticed that he is off colour.

Ive never been to the vets in my life I'm really worried.

Are they regular sorts of illnessess for guinea pigs?

has anyone else had these sorts of things?
I'm really worried will he be ok?

A piggy that is off food indicates something untoward so it is vital to get him seen asap.
Soft/abnormal poos are usually a result of poor appetite/illness and the gut going into stasis, piigies need food/hay constantly to keep their gut moving.
Hope your vet can shed some light and it is nothing serious - keep us updated with things, many of us have experienced ill piggies and can always offer some advice :)
Can you tell us how much he has eaten over the past 24 hours ?

Maybe a course of antibiotics is all he will need if the vet suspects an infection - if so, ask them for a probiotic too.

he's eaten hay, grass, apple, a grape, some herbs, celery, baby sweetcorns

seems abit off cucumber which is very unusual

Thank you everyone,

Aw, that's good :) At least he's getting food into him.
Don't worry at the vets, they are used to us being worried (I've been in pieces taking mine and they really understand how much we care for our furries)
They will probably do a full examination, eyes, ears, teeth, weight etc. have a feel of their tummy and listen to their breathing. 9/10 need antibiotics for something, either a UTI or URI that's brewing.
Don't be afraid to ask questions either - he's your pet ;)
Know how you are feeling, it is a worry but worth it if it's treated early x>>

He's had his last dose of baytril today, he seems slit more perky than he did but isnt eating much food, I've read where that can happen on baytril has anyone else experienced this?
ive been giving him water through a syringe to keep him hydrated especially with it being hot.
I keep giving. him anything that he will eat, he seems to be enjoying grass and herbs and small about a of fresh food, its been little and often.
his bottom is better, he's doing poo's which are like mouse droppings

Is he on probiotics with the baytril? If not then that might explain the small poo. Now he has finished the baytril his poo should go back to normal. Keep weighing him to make sure he is at least not loosing weight.

Hi everyone thank you for your help and advice, smokey on his way to recovery now, he's starting to eat more every day, lots of grass, I'm given him critical care every few hours too.

how long do I give the critical care?

He has also started to eat the other piggys poop is that normal?

His poops are getting back to normal slowly

yes eating other piggies' poops is normal - that means his gut flora have been depleted and he's getting back the necessary bacteria from other piggies. Seems yuck, but actually just fine! Great that he's feeling better.
