I swear I am keeping my vets in practice the amount of time I spend there :)) not Bumble this time but Peter. I noticed him sneeze a few times over the weekend and then yesterday I went off toilet while he was out and OH moaned that Peter had done a wet sneeze over him... :o So I had a good look and it looks like a little bit of clear discharge from one nostril so I'm taking him for a check up.

I've been reading through posts and posts on here about sneezing and nasal discharge and reckon its either a URI or hayfever as my hayfever has been really bad over the weekend and with all the hot weather the windows have been open most of the time. Better to be safe than sorry though so its a trip to the vets tonight and they can double check his manhood and make sure he's healed nicely after the castration a couple of weeks back.

honestly i feel the same... i must have spent hundreds in last few months...!
sounds like it could be hayfever and well done you for having the brains to get him to the vets for a little check up... :)

Thank goodness the OH has just had a job offer at a higher wage lol :)) someones got to keep my babies in the manner they have become accustomed to hehe

I'm tempted to move into my vets permanently....

hehe I'm tempted too (my vets obviously not yours). I said to my mum at lunch "guess who's going vets tonight?" and her initial reaction was "whats Bumble done now?" hehe luckily Bumble is fine for a change

Has Peter got other symptoms?

Sneezes can be down to the very high pollen content of the air (we haven't had much rain lately) or to some dust in the hay if he has stuck his nose really in.

Thanks Wiebke, he doesn't appear to have any other symptoms and has gained weight since his castration so no concerns about him eating. He does like burrowing in his hay as well although I use a dust free hay. I'm thinking its something of nothing but with the discharge I would rather risk the £5-10 consultation fee and have peace of mind than have a poorly piggie. I noticed we've not had a decent rainfall because I have to go out in the garden every night watering my plants and veggie patch and my hayfevers been playing merry hell

Right so we think it could be an allergy or irritation. Could be pollen, could be his hay. There's definitely no URI or anything else and the vet did a thorough check of his teeth, breathing and even his man bits and said he's healing extremely well after his castration. Best of all the vets didn't even charge me for the visit god bless them. I'm to go back if he appears to be getting worse of course but just to keep an eye on it and probably change the hay
