oh dear...nearly bought two guinea pigs....

ACCIDENTALLY may I add :P

I'm looking for a guinea pig hutch and run on gumtree for my little wheeeeeekers.

i found an ad, seemed perfect, 2 tier hutch with a run...
i was so close to contacting the woman when it said 'comes with 2 male guinea pigs, 5months old'

oh dear! i would have had a shock!
 
Honestly who would sell their little pets on somewhere like that :(
 
i know! i was so shocked!
it's horrible that they're trying to see the hutch, then into further reading there's 'two guinea pigs thrown in'. it's nasty :((
i could never do that to my little men!
 
Just hope they dont fall into the wrong hands.

Whenever i see any ad's on places like this, i send a polite message advising them to take their pets to a rescue where a lovely home will be found, and tell them about the worst case scenarios of re-homing on places like gumtree, freecycle etc.

yes i think i might. problem with things like this is i'm tempted to take them in myself :|
urgggggh, people shouldn't own animals if they're not going to commit to the long term thing!

5months old...that's nothing, they've probably been with her like 2 and she's already bored!
 
Thats the sad thing, i have even offered to take them myself and take them to a rescue, never had any replies though. (not that i would actually be able to take them to a rescue, i would have to keep them :)) )

when i had foster piggles i couldn't bare to let them go (they were so adorable!) and now they're with my sister :P
 
Just have a C&C set up for one of the pairs, really cheap and easy, and can be extended for a big enough space for a bonded foursome......

i would love to, but it's really not suitable (my dog Mojo is VERY fond of the guinea pigs :P)
 
We had the same when looking for our Gerbil tanks. We got to the lasies house and she said "oh, it has 2 males still in it. Would you like to buy a cat as well" So we ended up with 2 more gerbils and still had to get another big fish tank lol. Expensive bargain.

I found an ad on Kijiji here of someone selling two pigs in a C&C cage because his ex-wife was going to give him the cats and he figured the pigs wouldn't appreciate it. I e-mailed him and told him he could easily add a roof and they would be safe. He wrote back and said thanks, he hadn't thought of that but would still be selling them as he doesn't have the time.

Very few pigs end up at the SPCA here, and there aren't any rescues about. They end up being sold on Kijiji and goodness knows what happens to them after that. I want to start a rescue but we need a proper building for it first (we have 40 acres so I can give them a great home, just need a building with water and electric and heat; I have grand plans should we ever win the lottery).
