well I went into pets at home today to check out the prices for a Guinea pig cage, pretty reasonable I thought of £35 with all the bits and free starter kit, thought to my self, cool I'll pick one up next week when I get paid, on the way out noticed the adoption corner, they had a male piggy, think he was put up for adoption as he was picking on the other piggies :( I was so tempted to buy him but I just didnt have £35 for a cage :'( he was a brown colour with pink eyes, very vocal lol..

So on my way out, past the other pets, a baby Roborovski hamster all on his own caught my eye, he was licking the glass of his cage where ever i put my finger.. so for £8 I thought i'd better rescue him from that evil place, as I have a spare hamster cage..

But I cant stop thinking about the piggy :(

If anyone lives near pets at home in chatham kent, (the one at the top of bluebell hill) then there is a lone boar there up for adoption.
 
Awwwww it is sad seeing these animals but in reality we cant keep up with them as any pet that goes to new homes then its only gonna get replaced again then when that one goes it will get replaced too :'(

yes i know people will buy them etc but just think if you dont or no one dont want that piggy then it will live there (i hope) :) and then no other ones will have to re place that only one

But i know it dont work out like that really as some one will buy them or they will give them away or something but you have to keep your emotions inside O0 Although i cant say anything ;D
 
I saw a male pig beating up the others in the Chatham store the other day I had to call the staff to seperate them as there were 4 badly injured pigs with blood all over. The staff duly came and took them out and said 'we knew we had an aggressive one but we didn't know which one it was' Errrr why was the enclosure unattended if they knew there was an aggressive one in there and couldn't work out which one it was? ::) The pigs looked about 10wks old or so, one looked about 3 months, and there was a tiny baby in there too, probably about 5-6 wks too.

On the plus side they've marked the rat balls as not suitable for GPs.

It makes you wonder whether the staff have the common sense they were born with! Well done for setting them straight Julie. O0
 
Sandra, they probably think I'm a bit of a pain, I occasionally pop in there to check 'them out :D As these stores go, usually I have to say that Chatham is better than some of the other branches and independant pet shops, but if you know you have a group of fighting boys why would they not keep an eye out, it's not difficult ::)
 
you know i am always in the chatham branch, i can't believe we all live so close,
 
I did look at the little piggies for sale and did notice all of them where sqabbling a little bit, nothing major but I was concerned. :-\
 
I dont live in chatham, I am in ashford, might go there today and see whats happening. :tickedoff:
 
those babies in that pen the small ones are Mikka and Mims babies they said they had put all 8 babies in the sale pen and put mums up for rehoming, the two brown boars who where in the adoption centre where the fathers
 
Chatham is my local P@H and it is normally very good, nothing like the horror stories i have heard on here!
I may pop in there tomorrow, need some puppy bits anyway...
 
ive notice that the chatham branch is one of the better ones, they actually have more variety of pet accessories than any of the others ive been too..
 
i just wish they woudlnt put a fully grown, aggressive rabbits in with baby pigs :( but i suppose its because p@h in preston dont have an adoption part :-\
 
hey when i went to get xavier...they couldnt tell me if he was a boy or a girl!

he was my first piggy and i knew! silly people. but he was all on his own and was a quivering ball of hay...how could i not fall in love with him.

i just wish that the people who work in those places saw what kinda treatment some of the animals get and would try and help not just worry about their pay packet.
 
well the one where i live at huddersfeild the piggies allways looked scared and frigthend allways hiding in they hidy holes, they never have any food in there dishs

but the ones who are in the adopation bit allways have there bowls full to the top
 
having said that...there are 3 pet shops i know of in my area of suffolk...sea pets where i'll never go again unless its for hay and things. happy pets, i dont actually look at the guineas in there any more as nearly everywhere you look that rabbits should not really be kept with piggys and on several occasions i've seen massive *but cute* rabbits in a cage with little tiny baby guineas...happy pets is a bit of a joke i think...oh and milk chocolate drops for guineas containing milk...correct me if am wrong but arent guineas lactose intollerant?!

then there is vikings...now i kinda like this store because the guineas, rabbits and other small furries have things to do...look happy and healthy and will come up to the front of the cage and look at you! shame i fall in love with all of them every time! lol

its a shame that there are places like this but where as we all love animals they're just out for a profit... :tickedoff:
