Oh, I wish I understood the mind of a guinea pig!

My Lara has ongoing dental issues, so I have to syringe her meds and water every day. She comes to me to syringe her which is very helpful, but my other girl Mo has now decided that she will not drink from the water bottle and wants syringe feeding water as well. Vet has checked her and there is nothing wrong with her teeth. Mo has also decided that she will not wait for me to do Lara first and tries to get the syringe so I now start every day trying to syringe water to two guinea pigs at the same time which is not easy when I still haven't had my first coffee of the day:-) And they never seem to have had enough either. They would have me standing doing that for hours.

Also, just spent the weekend extending their C&C to a 6x2 (in the hope of adding 2 rescues to our numbers). When finished, they did a lap of inspection then went straight back to the 1x2 hayloft where they have insisted on living in permanently for the last 2 weeks. They only come down to eat and get me to syringe water then straight back up. In fact Lara only comes down to select her chosen vedgie then takes it back up to the hayloft to eat!

Don't know why I bother:-) Anyone know a piggy whisperer

You've probably got it easy than most with the syringe feeding. It must be far easier to syringe water to 2 piggies who come willingly than to try and do it to one piggy who doesn't want it. They should love the 6x2. I have a group of 4 & a group of 3, both in 6x2 runs.

I wish I did - I'd be wanting them to see my piggies too !

LOL! yes, you are right, I should be grateful for that, although Lara is non too co-operative once she discovers the syringe contains her antibiotics rather than metacam or water, then its mouth clamped shut and run for the hills.

They are funny. I have a dog that when the piggys have their veg he Cry's until he gets a bit too. Which is funny because he the veg. But he wants a bit of what the piggys are having, just in case he's missing out.
