Since being unable to use Happy Hay and a number of other hay suppliers I've been getting various bags and brands from The Hay Experts. You all know these two and their hay, if it's not the sort that you'd be terrified it'd give your own guinea pigs hay pokes, these two won't eat it. It's gotta fight back.

The Pillowwad Bio Timothy was on the expensive side but they loved it, and it looked perfect for them too - stalky, spiky, stabbed me in the foot.

The latest Pillowwad bags are here, and they've got (😱)....soft hay in them. There's a riot in the spare room. Bann's eating it, Cam's screaming at me for "the proper stuff" because there's no convincing him this is hay, and he likes hay, and it's even timothy hay, and he loves timothy hay. Nope. I didn't mention to him he's stuck with the Pillowwad til Friday at the earliest. It didn't feel like a great time to mention it, y'know?

Bann's cranky about it too, but at least he's willing to try it. :td:

I've never met guinea pigs so anti soft hay in my life, and skinnies to boot. They loved the timothy and the orchard from Happy Hay and I've not found anything they've been so happy with since. I told them to blame DPD.

I keep my two happy with four (yes four) different types of hay. Spoilt or what.
Yes I believe it. We have 5 here at the moment trying to please all of the pigs all of the time. One very stalky box has been a total reject and is taped back up waiting to be offered to the people over the road for their rabbits.

Cam's currently sulking in a hide somewhere, Bann's having a right old feast to himself. I have to go downstairs in a bit to grab the fan and (hopefully) avoid more smoke alarm issues tonight but if I go, Cam's going to start up again lol. I wish I knew what was "wrong" with the nice soft stuff.

I got hay once in Pets at Home. It was Timothy hay and in a big compacted bag and the hay was very green and stalky. I think the bag was red. (Of course my angels eat any kind of hay with gusto 🥰😇😇)

Glad I could help! 😊

I did get them a bag from P@H once and...yeah, they turned their noses up at that, too. Bloody menaces, the pair of them.

Mine used to be really good and eat any hay but I seem to have a bunch of fuss pots on my hands at the moment. It's probably because I was trying to tempt them to eat with different hays when they were ill. I showed them there were different hays they could chose from!

As of this morning, Bann's still eating the hay, Cam's still affronted by it. 🤷‍♂️

Hector loves stalky hay too, I often think he was weaned in straw, he hunts out all thick inedible bits out of all the hays we get. Luckily none of them are too fussy

It's weird because Cam loves seed heads. The hay is full of seed heads. But he won't eat the seed heads because...the other bits are too soft?

I opened the last bag of Pillowwad this morning. I'd already ordered a box of Excel Timothy, plus a 1kg bag of Pillowwad incase they turned their noses up at the Excel 😱 , but opened the last remaining bag here and...yes. I got stabbed by it. I've let them know the hay supply is back to normal for now. :))
