Who would sell a frozen guinea pig.
Yes I understand why but it's disturbing though 😭

They’re sold for snake food. I get this type of ad coming up quite often when looking for guinea pig stuff on eBay!😱

I really really cant see why anyone likes to keep snakes as pets, my brother used to have a pet snake, it was just the most boring animal to have as a pet ever. No offence to snake lovers but i just dont get it. They never have enough space no matter how big the vivarium

Frozen day old chicks are also advertised for snakes too, again very sad x

However the reality is that many of us will consume meat every day in one form or another.
So it is upsetting becasue we see guinea pigs as pets, not food, but we also eat things that other people and cultures would find offensive or upsetting.
That's why I'm vegetarian :) although one day might try to go vegan.

exactly why I'm a vegetarian. It's very hard for me to look at ads like this.

Why would anyone sell a frozen guinea pig! My snake 🐍is happy with mice! (Sorry mouse lovers!)

My spider eats live crickets but my husband is vegetarian and everyone else in the house (me, the piggies, the snails) are vegan.
But snakes have to eat, and if piggies hadnt been domesticated for meat we wouldnt have them as pets today... its tricky to ethically evaluate pet food, for obligate carnivores- I mean most folks think keeping a dog or cat is ok right? But they are still eating animals, often from the worse end of the animal welfare in food production business, and lots of cats kill wildlife not just farmed animals... humans have ethical dietary choices, obligate carnivores just eat what they evolved to eat... can't see me convincing Roxy spider that Ocado vegan falafels are the way forward really!

You have snails? What kind? I have a helix aspersa and ik this is kinda off topic, sorry.

I don’t really know why people would feed pigs as food for their snakes, they’re not even as nutritious as rats or mice and they’re mostly fatty.

Sadly you can get any small furry as frozen food, I had to get a frozen rabbit in for someone once... it was the saddest thing as I had to check it’s condition and it was the prettiest rabbit :(

Poor thing! I know that snakes have to eat, but I always feel bad for the food. My youngest loves reptiles and would love a snake, but I just can't stomach the idea of buying frozen critters. I used to have pet mice as a kid, I feel too bad about it all. Ironically, my youngest is a vegetarian like me, but she is pretty nonchalant about animals having to eat other animals... she figures she can be health on a vegetarian diet so she chooses that, but a snake has no choice but to be a carnivore if it wants to stay alive. I used to feed mealworms to my hedgehogs and I even felt bad about that!
