So, my 11 year old daughter comes home on Friday with this bundle of fluff.
She rescued her from a petshop who had her with rabbits in a filthy enclosure, completely yellow from urine, she was reeking of urine, and we had to give her a gentle bath with baby shampoo.

I was verry proud of her on the one hand, and mad at her on the other, as I do not condone getting any pets from petshops, plus OH is not too happy with me about the new addition.

But she already stole our hearts, she weighs 261g so I estimate her at about 4-6 weeks, and I am quite convinced it is a girl, wich poses more problems, as we have 2 boars. So we need a complete new setup for her.

Well here se is, you will soon see why we are so in love already;

OMG how super cute, your daughter has a good heart. xx

She used her pocket money to buy her, poor thing....
I must say that I am quite excited with the prospect of having a girl piggy around...

Oh bless her that is so adorable. You can't expect an 11 year old to think about the greater debate of pet shop rescues. I would just be so proud of her seeing her in the bad situation and rescuing her, plus using her pocket money. :rose A very selfless thing to do. Plus that is possibly the cutess piggie i have ever seen x) Don't tell my boys :x

poor buns left behind though :(

I am trying not to imagine what the bunnies did/could do to this little piece of heaven x

My daughter dubbed her Snowy, she really is sooo sweet, and makes the smallest poopies I have ever seen :p

She leaped out of her arms as she smelled the fresh veg when I made the boys lunch... poor mite

She's so adorable :) Your daughter is so sweet to rescue her.

Just a warning, though you probably know already, but you should probably keep her in a different room to your male pigs if you can, in case they fight over her, just from her smell. And maybe be careful to wash your hands after handling her, before you handle them, in case she has any parasites or anything they could catch, be careful of clothes carrying them too, you never know what they could catch in a pet shop :(

I hope she settles in well and I'm sure she'll be really happy :)

Do you think you'll get another girl to be her friend :))

I completely agree, I would be really proud too.

Yes, she is in another room, for quarantine, as well as not wanting the boys smelling her.
I am considering maybe neutering the boys and getting another girl :x
(Don't tell the OH):p

Hi,

cute guineapig, looks like one of mine, who is a peruvian:))

What a gorgeous piggy and a very smart and lovely girl you have. I would certainly consider reporting the pet shop to the local council who issues their licence though as not only should they not be keeping animals in that state but surely they shouldn't be selling animals to children without a parent present.

Luckily yours is a good home and you will take care of her. I hope she enjoys her new home and I'm sure hubby will soften to her after a few cuddles

I have spoken to the shop owner, but dit not get much joy. mallethead
i have reported them, hopefully something will come from it.

Florence (another piggy who was in a pet shop with bunnies) sends lots of wheeks and love to Snowy! She says girls with funky hair-dos have to stick together against horrible smelly boars :))

Hehe..... wheeks from Snowy to Florence..... the silly smelly boars do not even know I am here, they are still up to no good as usual, wheeking at mommy for nom-noms and popcorning all over the place....silly boys.....:p

It's fantastic that your daughter rescued her, she is a real credit to yourself. You must be very proud.

The piggy is absolutely beautiful, crazy hair x) I bet she'll love her new home with you.

She is a beautiful piggy and you have a very thoughtful daughter. What will your new little bundle of fluff be called?

aww what a cutie! x) I'm shocked that the shop sold her to your daughter though, it's against the law for a pet shop to sell to someone under the age of 16... :{ Was she there by herself? You could get the shop owner prosecuted. ;)

If they do sell to children, thank goodness it was your daughter who got her instead of an irresponsible kid with no idea how to look after piggies. :)

Aww your daughter is a sweetie!

What a gorgeous guineapig, she looks like a little punk rocker!

I wish my mum would let me do stuff like that... If I came home with a guinea pig she would make me take it back straight away. It took a whole year to make her agree to let me get the ones I have now:)

Wow, I've seen some pretty cute piggies on this forum, but this one is by far the cutest - she's absolutely gorgeous drool

How can your OH not be happy about having this little girl in the house, I'm sure he'll come round very quickly once she turns her charms on him - I bet you'll catch him having a sneaky cuddle in no time!

Well done to your daughter, that was a very sweet, thoughtful and grown up thing for her to do and you must be very proud of her.

You'll have to let us know what, if anything, happens with the pet shop now you've reported them.

Look forward to more pics x

:(|)x):(|)
What a little stunner, I would have done the same as your daughter bless her x>>
My OH was cooing at her just - said she reminds him of a pom pom (men eh :x)

Oh Snowy you're one boooooootiful ickle girlie x)droolx)
OMG she is a pretty one, i'm sure she's going to have a wonderful life with you, so pleased to hear she's happy to munch on veggies :)
I think Snowy and Florence might become piggiepen pals :))
