Yesterday at cuddle time I noticed yet another lump on my beautiful Betsy.:yikes: I'll make an appointment at the vet today as soon as they open at 9 am. The old one is on her back just by her left shoulder and it is about 1cm in diameter and moves so the vet didn't think it was sinister when I took her a couple of months ago. Yesterday at cuddle time she I noticed that another had developed :yikes::yikes:this time it is about 1/2cm in diameter but it is at the join of her right leg to her body, just above the armpit. She is the most gorgeous piggie you could ever wish to meet.

She is very loving and very cheeky and just loves her cuddles and parsley! she will do anything for parsley!

I'll keep you posted on what the vet says.

Thanks both of you @Dindypig and @piggieminder. The other is just a fatty lump so here's hoping. I'm awaiting a phone call back from the vets now as when I phoned them this morning they had had a big emergency come in and it was all hands on deck! I hope whatever the emergency was has been resolved.

I do hope their emergency animal is alright. There's nothing worse than having to wait around for news though. Thinking of you.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and Betsy!

Thanks all of you! It means so much to me and Betsy that you all care sooooooo much. :luv::luv:

Would you believe the earliest appointment I got was Friday morning at 10.15?:yikes:. I suppose there is a backlog cos of the emergency they had this morning. I hope it's nothing too serious as I go away on Saturday for 9 days. Piggie sitters are already organised!

@Guineapigfeet I do hope your piggie is OK?

Yes, my vets have always been very good. I've been three time (one with each pig!) and always got same day

I usually can get the same day too but I think a combination of Summer Holidays and the emergency meant I couldn't today.

Fingers crossed it is nothing sinister, please lets us know how you get on sending lots of love to you and @Guineapigfeet also x

Oh god Betsy :( Paws crossed for you it's nothing serious! xx

I hope it's just a fatty lump like the other Tim! I'll be completely devastated if it is anything sinister cos Betsy is my absolute favourite piggy of all time:love::love::love: Even though I know I shouldn't have favourites really:whistle:

BB was definatley my favourite this morning but she's not normally!

Well update time!

The vet examined the original lump and now thinks its not a fatty lump as it has gone from soft to hard and gristly and it is also a bit bigger. Then he eventually managed to find the other lump by her armpit and said it felt the same as the original lump although a lot smaller. Both of them move and have not adhered to anything so that is good. He then said that as it's the second lump that has come up so quickly after the first I should think about getting them removed and possibly analysed. He spoke to me about the risks of anaesthetics and guinea pigs but then stated that they have a good success rate with gps. I asked him how many gps he saw and he said that they saw quite a lot and that they were the fourth most popular animal that they see at the Practice and they have quite a bit of experience with gps. He also said that the other option was to just leave the lumps as Betsy seems to be happy and not losing weight and is eating and pooping OK. I guess I have some thinking to do over the coming weeks. At the end of the day it's my decision. Do I put her under the stress of an operation or do I just leave her? What a dilemma I have! I don't know what to do! The vet said if it was his gp he would do the operation. But.... is he just saying that to help persuade me to have it done? I really don't know. Advice please.

@helen, @Wiebke, @Tim said you may be able to help? He said he trusted your judgement and as he is away this weekend that maybe I could ask your opinion? I hope you don't mind! But I really don't know what to do and I'm really very upset about this whole thing!

helen has been off the forum for 3 years, so you may want to ask @sport_billy

Wiebke's away so you may not hear from her for a week or so.

I'd be inclined to try surgery but I know it's much easier to say that when it's not your pet.
