We had a vet visit today so my old man Paddington could have a general check - I've noticed a little stiffness and lethargy and thought he might have arthritis starting... Turns out he has cancer, what a shock. :(

He's comfortable on metacam and still seems to be enjoying life, so I'm making the most of whatever time we have left. I thought I'd share one of my recent favourite pics of Paddy enjoying clean fleece and a cool brick - as you'll see, he's a pretty relaxed little fellow:

That's his neighbour Coco (or his little Himmy nose, at least!) keeping Paddy company through the cage.

Keeping guinea pigs is mostly awesome, but when it's bad it's properly dreadful... I'm sure everybody here knows what I mean. :soz:

I'm sorry to hear your lil man has cancer, let's hope the metacam can keep him as comfty as possible for as long as possible, I sort of know what your going through as I lost my mr woo 19hrs after bladder stone surgery on weds this week...
Paddy looks a very gentle,kind piggy :)

I agree it's heartbreaking when you get a diagnosis like this - but it is better to know - so you can give the right treatment .

@Yvo@21 - I am so sorry you lost Mr Woo. I lost my boar Max recently too after bladder stone surgery. I still can't believe he's gone .

@piglette - Paddy looks really comfy in the photo. I am sure you will spoil him rotten until his time comes.

I'm so sorry! We had a similar shock recently and lost our piggie Boris. He looks like a real little character, I'm glad you can keep him comfortable x

What a lovely piggy you have. I hope Paddy Piggy is able to come through it and smile on the other side. Lots of love to both of you x

What a shock for you. I'm sorry that you had such bad news but at least you can keep your baby comfortable and make his last time with you very precious. Enjoy your time together x

I'm so sorry to hear about your piggie. He is gorgeous, and I hope you have some lovely time together!

Thanks so much, everybody - it's so great to know you understand - I've had the "it's just a guinea pig" response from too many people over the years, I'm sure you all know what I mean...

@Wendle I read about Boris on the forum, thanks for your message, I'm so sorry for your loss ((hugs))

Oh no, so sorry to hear this. I too have the same remarks "oh I would understand if it was a dog..." mmm. Ignorant people who clearly are deprived of piggy love! Feel sorry for them. I hope he has a comfortable time from now on xx

I know how upsetting said such news can be I lost my 5 1/2 year old to lymphoma last August. They didn't treat it as it was so advanced. All you can do is keep him comfortable and give him love xx
