Oh Phoebe!

Must be awful waiting but it sounds like the vet is being very thorough and investigating all options! Theo sends extra healing piggy kisses and a cheeky rumblestrut for Phoebe. Hopefully its something easily treated but if she is still on any medication when the big house move happens, rest assured that we are fine with administering piggy medicine (and treats afterwards!) and doing daily weight checks and we have a great vet just round the corner!
Thank you.
Phoebe appreciates Theo's kisses and rumble struts.
It's reassuring to know that she's going to be in excellent hands if we haven't got her sorted by the time we move.

What a shame, hope she’s not in any/much discomfort

Smokey and Bacon would like to join in and offer virtual kids

*No kids! Not even virtual ones, that’s meant to say kisses!

Awww sending healing vibes to Phoebe.... out of curiosity how can the vet feel an ovary? Does it feel like a lump inside her tummy ? Sorry to sound dumb 🙄

I have no idea how a vet feels an ovary - I just trust that with all those years of training and experience she knows what to feel for

I’m exhausted - it’s been a very busy day for me.
First of all I played ‘Catch me if you can’ with mummy before I came out for some medicine. It’s rather nice so I wanted to keep the syringe but mummy wouldn’t let me.
Then I played and popcorned and zoomed around the cage. I ate lots and didn’t drink as much so mummy is happy.
We had lots of people came in this afternoon for food and chat. They all stopped to look at us so I made a special effort to look cute.
Now I am very tired and I need my energy to play ‘Catch me if you can’ again tomorrow.

Thank you to all the forum piggies for your support.
Love and licks from Phoebe

Did Man Slave tell you what Vet said was wrong? was it anything to do with her ovary?

Aww hope it turns out to nothing too serious, must be nerve wracking waiting to find out the results. Sending big hugs ❤️

Sending lots of healing vibes for Phoebe xx

My late Emma had an ovarian cyst. As she was 5 and a half years old and showing no other symptoms my vet just kept and eye on it but obviously Emma was much older than Phoebe

She goes for a scan on Thursday plus some other tests for urine infection and dental check - just in case.
Meanwhile she’s on a dose of Loxicom daily to ease any pain or discomfort.
That’s certainly working.
Daddy slave is in charge while I’m in Yorkshire.
I’m sure he loves them really

I'm sure daddy slave has everything under control! Hope its nothing too serious, and glad the loxicom is helping. Bloaty Puggle sends kisses and says they could form a very exclusive poorly ginger piggy girl club x

I’m sure Phoebe would appreciate being in a special club with Puggle.
They could exchange stories when Phoebe comes to stay.
Ginger piggies are very pretty

Christian wants to know if he can join the poorly ginger piggy girl club. I told him he couldn't as a) he's not a girl and b) he's not ginger he's silver. He replied he's sure that the girls won't mind.

Christian and Ollie can have an exclusive club for handsome silver boys with wonky back ends :)

@Potterpig and I are both at the vets tomorrow for piggy treatment.
Phoebe’s bag is packed with hay, nuggets and forage. The lunchbox with veggies is in the fridge and the travel cage / box is ready.
The hospital are happy for me to take Priscilla and Jemimah in as well to keep Phoebe company.
She’s been out playing this afternoon, I saw a popcorn or 2 and she’s still stuffing herself but something isn’t quite right.
We have to leave around 7:30am to get into Swindon on time.
It’s going to be a long day for us tomorrow .
Will update tomorrow evening
Forum support has been much appreciated during the wait for our appointment.
Thanks everyone

Took all the girls in at 8:00am.
They apparently all settled well and have been fine.
I was assured Phoebe was eating and pooping when I phoned to check at lunchtime.
A delay in surgery meant Phoebe was still waiting- I think they were dealing with more than one emergency today.
Anyway - vet eventually phoned.
Dental all fine.
Liver and kidneys fine.
Wee looked normal for a guinea pig - no blood.
Scan showed small cysts on both ovaries so the options were to leave it and keep an eye on things or spay now while she was still under anaesthetic.

I opted for spay knowing that Jemimah’s cysts had grown very fast and I was unwilling for that to happen to Phoebe.
She’d have to be on medication for the discomfort and support to stop the slow weight loss.
She’s young and healthy now.
We move house in 6 weeks and I don’t want to be dealing with a possible emergency with a new vet.

I’m waiting for the phone call and feeling decidedly on edge now. I can’t settle to anything.
I hate the waiting
