So the guinea pigs are always being spoiled. This March I decided it was the rats turn for some spoiling as there had been some rescues come in.

I admit I may have gone a little overboard on the overdue rat spoiling. The little devils landed...

1x Little friends hannging bent tube
2x Large Savic hanging tube (1 was free as it came without the chains to hang)
10x assorted colored rat hammocks from Ziggy's piggies (plenty to swap out on a wash or chew damage)
3x assorted corner rat hammocks from Ziggy's piggies.
2x 130cmx170cm fleece blankets (these were only €3 each)
2x Extra Large Sputnik hideys
2x Medium tropical color fiddle sticks wooden bendy bridge/ramps
1x new ceramic bowl with "Rat" written on next to a graphic (so hard to find specific rat bowls).
And....last but not least..

Another Savic Royal Suite 95 double cage.

I am sufficiently broke after that but have some very very happy ratites who are giving some smug looks across the room to the guinea pigs.

And no this is no April fools.

Edit: forgot to add these also have a large amount of colorful plastic chain links I liberated from a friend as her child was done with them (you know the kind you see looped all over strollers for kids to play with).
And lots of rope climbing and runways made from €1 rope dog toys looped together from a discount store.

hahaha, that's priceless, we've certainly all been there.

The rats are certainly going to have a party going on...oh sorry that might just be the party going on in my head...

Oooo they were very spoiled. Lucky ratties. How many rats do you have?

Oh I think they will definitely be having a party!

I have trio of boys and a quartet of rescue ladies. Both groups now have the same model cages (so one entire setup of girls and one of boys). I could have bundled them all into one cage and divided it but I didn't want to crowd them and with the cage design I also love that you can block off the access to the upper/lower level. Meaning if anyone gets sick and needs to be quarantined then it can be done simply by closing a hatch and without needing to set up yet another cage.

One of rescue quartet is currently split off in the bottom level of one of the cages as she appears to be quite poorly so I have quarantined her for her own safety and to make sure she has nothing to pass to the others until the vet can have a better look at her next week.

Also edited main post as I forgot some items lol

I will have to correct myself about the rescue ladies. One (Peaches) was PTS this morning as she had some fairly large tumors and was going downhill. She wasn't a young rat and the vet felt the success rate for operating on her would be slim. It was a sad but very peaceful passing and at least her suffering is not prolonged further. I just want to add that she was surrendered like this. Had she been mine from the start I would never have allowed her tumors to advance to this.

So we are down to 6. The 3 rescue girls and the 3 boys I got via a breeder as babies.

Oh no! I'm am so sorry for your loss. Of course you would not have let it advance to that, you always talk about your rats with such affection. I'm sure for however long she has been with you she had the best of love and care.

Don't worry @Kylie80 , the girls had not been with me long and although they are getting used to being handled by me I can't say I am super bonded with them just yet. Of course I was sad to see Peaches pass but given her condition and age it was not a huge surprise, as horrible as it sounds to say it. I would have been far more distraught had it been one of my precious boys.

Rummage In Peace Peaches, you may have had a bit of a troubled and cramped life but at least before the end of it you experienced what it's like to be spoiled and appreciated.
