I cleaned the guys out today and as usual they go in the cat box out the way plus then I can get them all out one at a time and trim claws, check bums etc. Fudge is always first, she was as ever waiting for me to put her back in the pen, hating a cuddle, minty is next and she loves a cuddle, trimmed a couple of long front claws and back she went, flash is then next, clean his willy out - hairs, its like a velcro for hairs rolleyes:))

But crystal as she has to be checked properly due to her skin irritations goes last, a quick check over nothing needing doing, hair on bald patch finally growing back and I just give her a cuddle. But she is shaking 8... poor little lady, its not like I have done horrible things to her each time I hold her and quite often give her veggies to make sure she enjoys her cuddles as she hasnt been particularily keen on them anyway.

Cant believe my girly is that unhappy about cuddles, will have to do this everyday with her without fiddling with her so she feels more comfortable, problem is with her skin having to be cared for I will have to bath her and touch her more often than the others and I had hoped this would bring us closer together. She isnt scared of me at least, she will still take food from my hand in the pen, she still comes right up to me when I spot clean and she still talks to me every day.

Aww bless her :(
Maybe cuddle her and have her out for lap time, just gently stroking etc each day so she doesn't associate being picked up with having baths and treatments? I'm sure she'll come round in time :)

I have had her and the other two girls for 9 months now, minty is a cuddle monster who enjoys snuggling up to my chin (makes me sneeze afterwards but worth it), fudge is a right fidget and would rather be off and exploring, crystal has never liked cuddles but will sit in the cup of my arm and stay there where its warm which is where I held her this time, but nope she just chattered away to me (not chattering teeth, she makes little squeeks, not distresed ones or angry just little noises) shivering and it wasnt because she was cold. This is the first time I have held her when she has shivered during contact with her which was upsetting for me as its not like I am horrible to them.

She was fine after I let her go and back to her confident self again.

She doesnt like me 8...8... no joking aside, she is obviously not happy with the last two weeks events that have required me to treat her skin.

aww hon don't beat yourself up. Once her skin gets a bit better or she gets used to it, she'll come around. I think some are more sensitive than others. I once dropped the poop scooper on winstons head and every time he sees it he teeth chatters at me and tries to bite it! :))
She doesn't hate you, you're just not furry with 4 legs ;) Or a vegetable lol

I feel so sorry for her, the slightest louse or itchy reaction and her skin goes bright pink from head to toe within days, she then scratches a patch or two bald, I treat her and get her skin back to normal pink but she continues to scratch the effected area and makes it sore, which in turn as it heals and repairs gets itchy. I have the right stuff now to keep this to a minimum, its only happened twice since I have had her and I was on the problem like a shot but it takes her a few weeks to get back to a normal coat so I feel like a bad slave as I have a bald piggie, then once all the fur is back she is fine and beautiful again till the next flair up. But having this happen twice and seeing how quickly she gets into a state I absolutely have to be proactive to prevent her getting into a state.

I do get very embarrased by admitting she gets bald patches but its firstly not ignored, treated as soon as found and then continued to be treated till she is better, but also secondly nothing that I have done to make her that way in the first place, she is like her slave, sensitive skinned. plus thirdly if there is ever a worsening or no response to the treatments I give her as it isnt a louse problem then she would be down the vets for further treatment, as yet the two times has been lice in hay (annoying but common). I keep mentioning it as I still worry that people read this and think I am not looking after them, I am, I know its lice as I have seen them on the others and I give the ivormec a few days to do its stuff and reassess them, now I have louse powder, lice and easy shampoo and lotions to soothe her skin as even the ivormec makes her skin sore and pink up even more, but it does the job and does it well.

I wouldn't beat yourself up, my pigs are held at different time sand sometimes one or two become less tame and sometimes shake but I just continue giving them cuddles and then they calm down within a few handles. My problem is I hold the easiest to catch ones most lol I have a pig that screeches when I try and catch him, big baby!
